There is more to all this Roger. Anyone can speculate on many different plots and twist. I don't know which but I know this is not done just to be wasting our time and efforts.

Venezuela is our enemy. They have caused us IMMENSE pain. They have flooded us with criminals , ruined the greatest economy in the history of South America, provide material support to Cuba ( which has plundered Venezuela and given Cuba life support for their shitty government) , overturned democratic elections, have hit squads that terrorize their people and murdered thousands of people, provide material support to Iran/ Hezbollah etc, destabilizing South and Central America, etc.
The day Maduro dies is a GREAT fricking day for America. Putting as much pressure on his dictatorship as possible, creating the circumstances for Venezuelan generals and nationalists to take him out is a GREAT thing. This is not Iraq or the Middle East- they had a stable political situation for decades- and were a reliable geopolitical partner.
If we blow cartel boats out of the water- I say- MORE - YESTERDAY. Nattering nabobs of hysterical negativity be damned.
