I’ve seen reference to a 1pm deadline in Texas; not sure how accurate that is.

Auden B. Cabello X

FYI …

Gov. Greg Abbott is currently in India celebrating India as a constitutional republic.
The Texas Constitution clearly states when the governor is out of the country, the Lieutenant Governor becomes the acting governor.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is therefore currently acting Governor of Texas.

Any chance he could pull a Benedict Arnold and sign away the border while Abbott is out of country?

Zero. Patrick is more hardcore on the border crisis than is Abbott.

Here’s a snippet from Patrick laying down the law during his appearance with Laura Ingraham last night:

Well damn. At least we know he's serious about all this border stuff.

It’s been planned for over a year—huge trip with major economic ramifications.
Patrick and Paxton are more than capable of holding down the fort.

Joe and his handlers are so fricking weak. I doubt they do anything but bitch, cry, and file lawsuits.

BREAKING: A Senior CBP Official tells FOX:

"the relationship between Border Patrol, Texas DPS, & TMD remains strong... Bottom line: Border Patrol has no plans to remove infrastructure (c-wire) placed by Texas along the border. Our posture remains the same."

I think the open border has bigger economic ramifications than letting India ship a bunch more H1Bs our way

Fair point; I’m just sharing what I’ve seen.

If there was anyone else at the helm, I’d be concerned. But Lieutenant Governor in Texas, by law, is actually more powerful than the Governor.

That said, I think it’s safe to assume that if Abbott was planning his schedule today, it’s doubtful he’d agree to a major trip abroad.

What a load of bullshite. CBP will do exactly as they are told short of actually firing on NG members.

Response just now from KJP (in the daily White House press briefing currently taking place) about the 25 GOP Governors who signed a letter of support of Greg Abbott:

quote:

“I would say if they truly want to help with the issue with the immigration system they need to talk to the congressional members in their state that’s what they need to do. They need to ask them to make sure that they have the resources they need within their respective states to take action. This is a legislative issue … the Republicans wed to make a decision if they want to one part of the problem or part of the solution.”

In other words, she said nothing.
Nothing about today’s deadline, as issued by the WH.
