Perceived momentum of the country is a very important thing to a large contingent of Americans. Over the last 50 yrs, what is your opinion of the most positive year and the most negative?

I take 1988 as the most positive and 2020 as the most negative. What say you?

1984 was pretty good.

We were fully out of the Carter recession, hosted a largely Communist free Olympics, and Reagan gave Mondale an historic trouncing.

1980 as the best. 2008 as the worst. It is really not debatable. Reagan saved this nation. Obama set in motion a nuclear bomb from within our own borders.

Reagan took office in January 1981. Carter was POTUS for all of 1980.

W was POTUS for all of 2008.

Yes I know. The election was held in 1980 and spear headed a resurgence like we have never seen before. Obama was elected in 2008 which spear headed the debacle we see today.

It was 2012, before Obama really turned heel and started pushing the BS that led us to the cluster we have now.

I was a kid and young teen in the 80s and then college and 20s in the 90s…wouldn’t trade it for any other decades and often daydream of going back.

What a great time to be an American male!

Looking back, THAT was momentum! Most lived proud and grateful to be American. Rocky IV wasn’t JUST a movie …we lived to that soundtrack hahahhahaha

Would have never happened without the 2008 abortion of an election. It put him in place. Four years of planning and placing the right traitors in place and then boom.

9/11/01 most negative
9/12/01 most positive

We'll never have another 9/12. Too many people hate America ever since and it's all because of Democrats.

If you didn't get to experience 9/12, I feel sorry for you.

1984. Reagan had turned it around. It was the year we hosted the Olympics. Patriotism was just insane that year.

Those were good days. I was in high school. I was hoping the "60's" was just an anomaly. I didn't think it was possible for Americans to truly hate their country. I was wrong.
