I’m excited because this is all finally coming to a head.

It’s basically every economist in the entire world saying “tariffs are bad and will nuke the economy, with no tangible benefit” and TDS folks saying “nuh uh”.

Someone is going to be wrong at the end of this, but I guess it remains be seen if MAGA admits it.

Trump 1.0 had tariffs and no collapse

Joe expanding Trump's tariffs was far worse.

How much did the average household lose since 2021 while prices on literally every single thing you purchase went up 25-100%?

$5k?

The Tax Foundation is usually very reliable and it leans conservative.

It’s really not rocket science. When you tax goods, the price goes up and people’s disposable income go down.

Nobody is arguing that, but that's not the only consideration with tariffs. That's the point I was making.

The how is important.

Like decreasing government. Doing this properly and orderly and giving time for everything to react is much different than the hurricane of executive fiat (without full authority) we saw, especially when combined with the online promotions of incomplete data.

Don't agree. Permanent Washington has proven adept at managing all "orderly and measured" efforts to bring it under control.

Time to use the blowtorch rather than scalpel.

Bravado in the face of chaos
Bravado? No, just reality. I see the national debt as MUCH more of a threat to the American way of life than the Germans were in the early 40's. No way Germany could ever have invaded America. Yet American men stormed and died on the beaches of Normandy to stop the Germans (before they knew what the Germans were doing to the Jews in the concentration camps). The survivors then fought and died driving the Germans back to Berlin. I'm ok with some short term inconveniences for the betterment of my country's future.

I would also have stormed the beaches of Normandy. I would have been absolutely terrorized. Would likely have pissed and shyte my pants, but I've have done it.

That's one theory. There are 2 main ones that Trump's fans vacillate to depending on the discussion. The other is that they're going to bring back domestic manufacturing.

You are such a pseudo intellectual dipshit. You think bc there’s two potential benefits people aren’t confident in each?
