What is your point?

5th Tiger, pretty sure I didn't consider "school funding" when I chose where to go to school

It's worse than that. The shitstika was likely created by an African American student (as noted in the original report by the investigation) as an Anti-Semitic statement.

Not saying state funding has to do with attendance...saying the state funding will damage the university more than the reduced attendance will. Attendance will inevitably recover. Just a matter of time. University can still struggle if state funding continues to be cut.

don't think anyone would accuse people like David Steeleman of being anything close to a Democrat. What does it matter who appointed them?
Did the BOC help or hurt the situation?

Clearly the children of Missouri do not want to attend a university dominated by anti black sentiment and racism.

If Missouri is like most other states, your politicians have chosen to let Medicaid run off the rails for poor people's votes, instead of investing in educated people who will pay taxes instead of suck the state dry.

Neither IMO. Especially if you understand the dynamic of a BOC. I place most of the blame on Loftin. He ran our institution into the ground, skipped blame from protesters because stupid people like to take "bow tie selfies". He allowed Wolfe to be totally blindsided by a ridiculous request, being totally derelict in his duty. I don't blame Wolfe all that much tbh, as President of the System wouldn't have really any of the responsibilities in day to day things like the Chancellor does.
Overall, I blame Steve Owens and Mike Middleton, the 2 most responsible for bringing Loftin to Mizzou after Texas A&M paid for him to leave. Red Flags were everywhere.
BOC was left in terrible position as legislature essentially halted all business, failing to vote on Nixon's nominations for the BOC.

You're about to get a torrent of downvotes from Aggy. They think Loftin is the shite (even though they ran him off, too).

Couldn't have happened to a stupider place!

I think that's hopelessly naive. I think Loftin was an abysmal failure at Mizzou. But the BOC could have said "Hey, protesters, shove it. We're the adults." They did no such thing. Wolfe would have never resigned with their support.

We are not. We tell people on Medicaid "good luck."

BOC's never make declarations of management like that. It would be ridiculous to expect them to weigh in like that. That should have happened, and it should have come from Loftin..the Chancellor. He was too worried about his selfies and popularity with students. Faculty rightly fricking hated the man. By extension, I also blame the dummies who recruited him. I don't necessarily blame the BOC who didn't even have enough correctly appointed members to conduct normal business due to nominations being totally stonewalled by the legislature. People with expiring terms remained out of necessity, with no real positions to make meaningful votes.

Nah. Public perception was already way out of control due to Loftin's failures.

In fiscal year 2015, Medicaid accounted for 36.1 percent of Missouri's total expenditures.
That's 10 percent higher than K-12 and higher education combined.

I realize that is not popular on this board, but drastic state funding cuts will have a more lasting impact than the protests will.
You said it was 10%. 10% is not "drastic" even if they had stayed fully staffed.

Loftin had no support from the BOC either. Saying it's not their job is dumb. They could've stopped it and didn't.
No one outside the campus had any perception of Wolfe. No one knew who he was. No one still knows anything about him (as with most people in his position).

It's 9%. That's a pretty drastic cut. I'm not making a value judgment on whether or not it's correct. It is 9%.

Mizzou still has an enrollment higher than at least 7 schools in the SEC.
It also brings in more TV money than over half of the schools in the SEC.

Rightly. They were attempting to find a way to release him from his contract (fire him).

Alot of people could have stopped it and didn't...especially those in positions way more appropriate than the BOC. Football Staff, including Pinkel. Payton Head, MSA President at the time fanned the flames. There are tons of people you would expect to make statements like that long before the BOC...even if they were at full strength, which they weren't. They were barely functioning due to nominations being stonewalled.
I'll give this to Kim Anderson and his staff. They rightly kept their students out of it, having players actually study the proposals from CS1950 before making dramatic claim.
