Nope. It can not be hijacked. It's a specific purpose and can not work outside of that purpose.

What's hilarious is that if Hillary had won, firing up the right, chances are y'all would've gotten to 34. Don't be mistaken, this is the wet dream of the intellectual forces behind right wing politics. And Trump done fricked it up.

Currently, 33 states have GOP governors and 32 states have GOP controlled legislatures..just to give you a taste of how close that dream was to being achieved. Obviously, the story will be MUCH different after the 2018 and 2020 elections.

Resolutions filed by state politicians. State politicians who go on to be federal politicians. They know this won't actually go anywhere. They can just attach their names to this and crow about smaller government when they move on to their next political campaigns.

The only way a convention wouldn’t be a complete made-for-tv pandering disaster of epic proportions would be if it was completely sequestered. No cameras, no media, and damn sure no social media. But of course that would never happen.

Luckily a convention of the states won’t either.

I can’t wrap my mind around why you would want this. In today’s low information, all emotional society, this would be immediately hijacked by whatever the social media cause du jour is.

Need 38 states to ratify any amendment. 38 is high enough safe guard against what you’re worried about. I want a balanced budget amendment

Wow! Those are some states. Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Oklahoma.
States with atrocious educational systems and the most arse backwards thinking in the nation.
You guys are such hypocrites. First you talk about the founding fathers as if they were gods and nothing they did could be changed. Then you want to change what they did.
You also have no idea what a can of worms it would open. Even one of you most hallowed saints, Antonin Scalia, warned against having such a convention. It could be the worst case scenario of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
