Minimum Wage 101
Minimum wage is always 0 no matter what controls the government puts in place. If the government imposes higher wages, people will lose their jobs or jobs will be eliminated. People will be paid nothing where they used to be paid something or could’ve been paid something.
Like all government programs, the road to hell is paved with good intentions

As Thomas Sewell said, is a black kid better off making $2 an hour, or unemployed at $7 per hour?

These are your fellow americans you're talking about.
And what of it?
Is that supposed to be some sort of catch-all excuse for everything? Lots of my “fellow Americans” are shitty people.

It's simple really.
Minimum wage should be 86'ed. Let the free market decide these things.
I see no reason that some dumb shite at Burger King should be making $15/hr when they can't seem to manage to put the extra pickles I ordered on my burger.

The minimum wage is zero. Minimum wage jobs are not meant to be life long career jobs but starter jobs. The special needs person who bags my groceries would be out of a fulfilling job if the grocery store is forced by the government to pay him a mandated minimum wage.

A very large percentage of people making the minimum wage now are high school and college aged kids. Raising the minimum wage kills jobs for them, shifting the burden to their parents in many cases.
Many of whom are minorities.

By definition, a person being paid minimum wage is receiving a subsidy in the amount by which that minimum wage exceeds the “market equilibrium” value of his labor.
I can (barely) understand the desire to provide such a subsidy in an amount to prevent people from dying in the streets, which seems to have been the original rationale back in the Depression-era days of FDR.
I CANNOT see a rational argument for increasing the subsidy to a level which would encourage such a person to reproduce.
With all the free money flooding the economy and the runup in the pricing of labor at the low end of the wage scale due to (what will end up being) 18-months of unemployment on steroids, a federal minimum wage of $15 is more and more a moot point.

It's not a moot point if you own one of the small businesses that managed to survive COVID, and pay people $12/hour.
No matter how much crap liberals frick up economically, there's no reason to support even more.

No. It is not a subsidy. A subsidy enables something to exist or continue by means of an outside support previously not available without intervention.
I agree it is arguable that minimum wage is a subsidy. But its not a strong argument. Minimum wage simply redefines the threshold for being legally unemployable. Those who keep their jobs after a minimum wage increase are not being subsidized. They are surviving the labor force cuts.

Start mandating drug testing in order to receive EBT, and other Government hand outs.

I'm not supporting liberal economic BS. I'm arguing that the minimum wage debate is increasingly moot given what has already happened and is about to happen in this economy.
Unless your small business has illegals picking vegetables for cash, your lowest paid employee with be making north of $15/hr within a year or two regardless of what the federal minimum wage is.

That's what the Chi-coms meant for Covid to do. Mainly to their own people since Trump had decimated their economy. But then decided they shouldn't be the only one's to suffer that fate so they turned it loose worldwide.
