I read somewhere that there were some Antifa members that showed up doing things to try and make the protestors look bad. It didn't get into specifics, but this wouldn't surprise me.

I tend to agree with you, but, I often wonder about the universal acceptance of all men in the South at that time that preservation of Slavery was indeed the primary reason for Secession.

I do accept that it was for those of the wealthy plantation-owner class, because their own fat pocketbooks depended on Slavery. But, despite the fact that they held the majority of the political power at that time, I wonder about the other many "classes" of Southern men at that time. I often doubt that they shared the wealthy plantation owner-class's perspective on the matter.

I don't think we'll ever know for sure, because nobody "surveyed" the question at the time.
