Michigan Gov. “Half” Whitmer on NBC this morning

Really bad look for Whitmer. Glad a reporter with access finally got her admit it.
Whitmer did finally request federal aid on Thursday, March 26, after several days of complaining on CNN, MSNBC and other stations that our president wasn't helping Michigan. She put lives at risk to score political points, and raise her profile in her political party.
Her idea to move Detroit Covid-19 patients to West Michigan is a terrible idea. And this is her first original action. Up until now what she had done is to follow what Ohio's governor Mike DeWine has done, usually taking the same steps a day after he does. Leon Hendrix of Wood TV8 pointed this out last Sunday, after Ohio issued stay at home order. Leon suggested Michigan would issue the same order on Monday, and sure enough Gov Whitmer did issue that order.
Michigan currently has over 3600 cases, Ohio has 1100.
Which means she has been acting too late. Now her first original action will spread the virus to parts of the state that are complying with her orders, keeping the number of cases in those areas low.
Detroit elected her. The rest of Michigan voted in big numbers for her opponent. Moving C19 patients from Detroit to other parts of the state will decrease infections & deaths in Detroit, and increase them in parts of the state that voted against her. Another political calculation where she is playing with citizens' lives. Also, does she think we don't notice that after she chides President Trump to prove he stands with Michigan, and he responds defensively, she says we need to set partisanship aside and lock arms? She is in finger pointing mode.
Most of the time, those who point fingers are attempting to cover up their own failures..

Did he even ask her about the FDA approving emergency use of chloroquine and her threatening to pull doctor licenses for those that wanted to prescribe it?

First question in my world view.
She is literally pulling in the wrong direction.

How did Detroit become such a hotspot for the virus?

It's a shithole with a large population of people that will say "frick the poelease. I ain't stayin home."

Nice attempt at humor. If that were the case, Livingston Parish would be a ghost town.
How did Detroit become a hotspot so early in the cycle?

Bad genetics? All that crack smoking made them weak? Toxins from abandoned auto factories?
Could be many things.

There is a whole lot of politician speak in that answer. An answer that doesn't even answer the question. Half-Whitmere is correct...Good luck Michigan.,

A state has to ask for federal assistance. It’s not until the state feels they, themselves, can not handle the disaster/situation that they request help from the feds. The feds then come in, access the situation backed by numbers and then the President declares an emergency.

And didn't she try to put the kibosh on chloroquine too?

Large international airport
Lots of international business there due to auto industry
High population per square mile
Large segments of population in less than ideal living conditions
Large segments of population who do not give a frick about social responsibility and sees opportunity to flaunt government recommendations or guidelines. This spans all races. This isn't black culcha, but Urban American culture.

I'm thinking she should have done this on the day she was elected.

That Michigan girl governor is not a pussy. She and Michiganders will find their own way.
