I find this entertaining.

They met when he was brought in as a summer associate (think "intern") at the prestigious law firm where she was ALREADY employed as a (full-time) associate.

Law firms RECRUIT their associates by first bringing them in the previous summer as interns. Summer associates basically do a few hours of research per day, get dined like foreign dignitaries, and generally treated like royalty. Michelle would have experienced EXACTLY the same treatment two summers earlier.

In other words, she was "suspicious" that Barack was being treated "as a Black man" EXACTLY as she had been treated "as a Black woman."

The only thing she's suspicious of is when a bunch of white folks fawn over the multi-millions of dollars her and Barach have made by those same white folks who made her filthy rich.
