The fact that they there's video evidence that the witness and the dead kid together participated in a robbery just a few hours before their encounter with law enforcement is completely relevant in a discussion about their perception of the police officer's intentions and their reaction to being confronted by a cop and the validity of the witness account.

Here are some facts as provided by the police:

quote:

The officer who shot Ferguson teen Michael Brown stopped Brown and another teen because they were walking in the street, not because of a robbery a few minutes, Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson said Friday afternoon.

Jackson said Michael Brown and Dorian Johnson were suspects in the robbery, but the officer wasn't aware of that. The officer, Darren Wilson, knew there had been a robbery but did not know that Brown and Johnson might be suspects.

"The initial contact between the officer and Mr. Brown was not related to the robbery," Jackson said in a news conference shortly after 2 p.m. "(The robbery) had nothing to do with the stop… They (Brown and Johnson) were walking down the street blocking traffic, that was it."

quote:

The name and address of the store police say was robbed are redacted from the documents, but the store is Ferguson Market and Liquor on West Florissant Avenue.

quote:

The lawyer for Johnson, who was walking with Michael Brown when Wilson fatally shot Brown, said Johnson told authorities about the cigar theft earlier this week.

“He told them about the cigarillos and that Big Mike took cigarillos,” said the lawyer, former St. Louis Mayor Freeman Bosley Jr.

quote:

Asked whether Dorian Johnson will be charged, Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson said today, "No. We determined he didn't steal anything or use force."

Showing up in armored vehicles dressed for combat using gas is an escalation by definition. A show of brute force is the best they could come up with?

Interesting take by a friend of the police officer involved that called into a local radio station in St Louis.

Its all hearsay of course. Take with grain of salt but IF the autopsy and ballistics corroborate this story it may be why the family is asking for another autopsy, along with the findings of toxicology reports.

For those not listening-

Cop rolls up on them, tells them to get out of the street

Brown and friend tell cop to stick it

Cop pulls over. At some point, radio call comes over about strong-arm robbery and suspect descriptions, cop notices that they appear to be holding the Swisher Sweets from the robbery.

Cop puts car in reverse, tries to get out. Brown forces door shut violently.

Cop tries to open door again, tells them to put hands up. Brown punches him in the face, pushes him back into the car, goes for cop's gun.

At one point, the cop has the gun pointed against his hip, pushes it away. Gun goes off. Brown runs. Protocol is to pursue.

Brown and friend start taunting cop, say "You're not gonna shoot me", then bull-rushes him. Kept shooting him because he wouldn't stop. Thinks he was on something (PCP?) because he wasn't feeling anything from the shots.

Final shot was to the forehead, which took him down. This is why people think it was execution style.

Autopsy should show where the bullets came in and possibly the distance. Multiple wounds showing different levels of powder burns, etc., would support the argument that Brown was moving toward the officer.

Blood tox likely takes a while. It's possible that Brown was an adrenal freak and just didn't feel it until he got it in the brain, but it's more likely that something like PCP would be involved for this story to pan out.

The officers own dept. states he knew nothing about the robbery and it had nothing to do with the altercation. Do you think they are lying? Why?

Liberal's are so programed to follow each other like robots! Time and time again they wring their hands and cry about some perceived injustice and when the truth comes out, they hide and wait for the next "injustice" to whine again!

Let me get this straight...he tells them to get out of the street...they say frick off...he pulls over and is hanging out in the car monitoring the radio (how long?)...then he notices the swishers and puts the car in reverse and from the car, right next to a robbery suspect says "put your hands up" while trying to exit the vehicle near enough to the suspect that he shuts it on the cop and then dives through the window for the gun...this sounds way off, but if not, he sounds like Barney fricking Fife except for having a loaded gun.

Except according to this:

The video shows him putting the box back during the struggle.

Sorry, I don't feel embarrassed by my ignorance. Never have been. Ignorance is an opportunity to learn.

I didn't. I'm not in a place where I can watch video conveniently, sorry. I was relying on the written account, which is apparently inaccurate. I thank you two gentlemen for graciously informing me of this.
