this is a "real canary in a coal mine event" the democrat won with 13,403 votes out of 37,283 votes cast with 22% turnout in field of 13 candidates! the people have spoken!
there's a reason these people resort to special elections, nobody votes and the outcomes can be manipulated blowing up drug boats and tariffs were not on the ballot.
you might be right panicans if the turnout for the midterms is only 22% you might be in business!
panicans we're ready to believe you!

You aren’t citing yesterday’s results. Do better.

It’s been R for 30 years.
All those turnout issues you reference have been the same issues for 30 years, it’s not a one off.
2025 has given Rs plenty of warning signs, if you want to pretend they don’t exist, you do you man.

BS! The state may be red but Miami Dade is as blue as it gets. Check out all of the presidential elections. I'm not sure if RD carried Miami Dade in his landslide re-election bid.

Do you not know how to read? What year was the last democratic mayor of Miami?
This isn’t hard.

Special election and 13 candidates. If you want to take a victory lap, go ahead.
But if you think thats going to be a smoke signal for regular elections, you are wrong.

Dems are definitely turning out their voters better, which isn't really unusual, but at some point Pubs need to realize they cant just show up to vote every four years and then stop paying attention to every election in between.
The kooks on the left have literally nothing theyd rather do than show up at every election in between their rioting. Until Pubs have a similar level of interest they will always be taking one step forward followed by two back.

Who wants to vote for the party whose governor of the state loves to parade around in Nancy Sinatra's white rubber boots?
Two questions:
Was he wearing heels inside those boots?
Does he know Nancy Sinatra wants her boots back?

If you think things are trending in the Republicans' direction, you're dreaming or delusional.

That by itself? Of course not, that's not what I'm doing. You can probably explain jsut about any individual event away with decent reasoning.
But to take it in concert with every other warning sign of 2025 (which is what most reasonable people are doing today), it's another bad sign for Rs in 2026.
More context: Gonzalez (R), a latino, was endorsed by Trump, Desantis, Rick Scott, and Ted Cruz...STILL lost.

you’re looking at the Nov 4 election results, not the runoff. In the runoff, Higgins won 59% of the vote.
Still, it was extremely low turnout. But turnout seems to be a problem when Trump isn’t on the ballot, so Republicans need to wake up for 2026 or Temu Obama will be the Speaker.

Nothing at all. Just getting ahead of the crowd who will claim it is Trump's policies for the reason Miami elected a democratic mayor. I believe all politics
are local.
You, of all people, know I admire DeSantis.

Not much support at all for the "big" win in Miami. What could have happened?
