At this point, I’m just trying to ascertain who is “running” Venezuela. You told me that the narco commie was in control.

Yet hawg apparently thinks I’m as dumb as a box of rusty door-knockers for assuming such a thing. It seems we have reached an impasse.

I’m sure she’s been briefed as to how long she has.

The majority of all service academy cadets are liberal. They are political appointees.

What a peculiar choice.

It's been less than a week, you really think she's in charge or will be the leader in the future?

Was she just the next in line?

Because we could have had a Tim Walz in her position.

U.S. officials also expect Rodriguez — the former vice president now running Venezuela — to eventually facilitate free elections and step aside, the two people said. But the deadlines for the demands are fluid, and U.S. officials stress there are no elections imminent.

Oh more sky screaming over nothing really. The US will just remove her if she tries to pull a Maduro.

And I ask you again, how will the U.S. “run” Venezuela without “boots” on the ground?

You keep downplaying the potential for a U.S. occupation, but if Trump follows through on his plan to have U.S. oil companies rebuild Venezuela’s oil infrastructure, it necessarily involves a long-term military presence in the country.

Trump himself has indicated that this could require substantial investments and a significant American presence on the ground:

Trump offers first timeline for expanded US oil company operations in Venezuela…

…Trump declared that Americans would have a presence in the South American country “as it pertains to oil.” Trump said American companies would need to rebuild Venezuela’s crumbling infrastructure before tapping into the nation’s rich oil reserves.

Potential boots on the ground.

Okay I concede that's a possibility.

Happy?

Currently it isn't happening not a war not an occupation.

I sure don't know who is control. Since the choppers flew out with Maduro, as far as I know, we haven't seen ANY indication of continued US presence involved in reining in the chaos. There have been multiple reports like this talking about armed gangs and militias hunting down Trump supporters.

It’s a fluid situation, without doubt. Yet on the potentiality spectrum, I’d rank a U.S. occupation of Venezuela somewhere between taxes and death.

It sounds like more nation building to me. I wish this man had been elected president:

I’m old enough to remember when we were told that Iraq would be rebuilt with oil revenues.
