It's wrong and immoral.

There is no place for advocating or supporting violence, especially against innocent people.

Why not just say “that’s wrong?” Full stop

That's what I'm asking of OP and many other posters.

That's where response should end.

I'm not a Leftist and I don't support acting like one.

Honest question: at the height of cancel culture when we saw people on the right (or hell, just non leftists) getting harassed for controversial statements, did you actively denounce it on this board without both sides-ing it? If you did, and I’m unaware, good for you.

AggieHank was another that claimed he was a centrist, but I never saw the right side of that coin.

Yes. And political association/partisanship had literally nothing to do with it.

I've always been a critic of cancel culture.

Silly question.

Was getting into details yesterday talking about cutting welfare like Social Security on here just yesterday. Doesn't get more (Economically) conservative than that.

Lie, lie, lie

I'm pretty critical of this board and alot of it's whackadoodle bullshite but despite all that, threats of violence are so few and far between around these parts, I never think about it.

Now all the anger posted by others? THAT is emotion.

You just admitted that you don't recognize the difference.

There's nothing wrong with emotion.

There's tons wrong with emotional THINKING. Your emotion drives your position on things rather than an objective assessment of the topic at hand.

I think you realize it too because you constantly bring up how you aren't an emotional thinker.

As have I. And it was a fair question.

Surely you can see the difference in, say, what Gina Carrano posted that got her fired from Star Wars, and THIS.

When it comes to THIS, I wouldn't be the one leading the charge to shame this person--it's not in my nature, but I would have no problem if someone else did. This is beyond the pale. There is no equivalency.

With all due respect, you come across as a nutless, spineless, chode smoking twat.

Uh, just like the posted anger I referenced.

What emotion?

How does it affect my position?

The irony of this, especially in a thread with so much anger/fear and melting by people responding to me.

There is a difference.

That difference doesn't justify the hypocrisy.

I specifically referenced how violence has no part in political discourse.

All of that is non-equivalent to a Gina Carano situation. But threats of violence are not solely the domain of the Left.

Sounds like a "both sides" argument.

Anyone on the right that didn't call all cops racist after George Floyd was shamed.

Anyone that called it a "riot" instead of an "insurrection/attack on democracy" after J6 was shamed.

So what's wrong with specifically singling this, or any other similar post, out?

Like you said, there's a difference in saying something controversial that gets you cancelled, and saying something univerally agreed upon as evil.

Seems you're just too proud and self righteous to bring yourself to say "yep. y'all are right on this."

ETA: I'll give you the last word since I have to be up at 3, but I'll end with this: You do seem like a smart guy and I can absolutely appreciate an occasional fly in the ointment to break up the echo chamber. But I also think that some of your constant pushing back comes from a place of just wanting to frick with people, and for someone who thinks so highly of themselves, it seems a little hypocritcal on your part.

You know, I keep hearing Trump is a “controversial” figure. I’m still waiting to hear a proper explanation of what makes him “controversial” other than the left and the media repeating it over and over and over and over!

Controversial by definition

is based on public opinion, not necessarily facts. It also is not always a bad thing. Trump is the definition of controversial.
