You really have no idea what you are talking about. You really don't. It's not about "punishing" rich people. All those fricks at Cargill, ConAgra, Tyson, Nestlé do fine, and were doing fine even before the pandemic and even factoring in diesel prices and an increase in labor costs they are making a shite ton in profits. Greater as a percentage than before. Their net margins aren't hurting one bit
I'll guarantee your farm costs are greater than their overall costs and you have probably not seen a commensurate increase in your profit margin either on the gross and certainly not the net. But guess who has seen a huge increase in both. Tyson and Cargill which saw a 23% increase in profits as compared to 2019
I'm not sure what solar farms and Solyndra have to do with this, but by all means spout off the non sequiters

Yeah, and water is wet. Sellers of goods have done this literally for thousands of years.

Lowering the Federal Gas Tax? You think those guys give a shite if that is done? Oh so your price for a certain cut of beef will go from say 3.95 a lb to 3.88 a lb.
These guys effectively collude on prices. Like I said price controls are stupid and there are ways to get around them. But hit them with Sherman act shite and be serious about it and you will get their attention.

I see you are a devotee and enthusiastic consumer of BOHICA when it comes to your food.

I love people who reference a woman who never produced a tangible good other than selling books and waxing her philosophy from her apartment which she seldom left.

A lot of inaccurate words to say inflation

gas prices have been at this level multiple times in the las 10yrs and we have never seen food prices this high. at first it was supply chain issues that raised food prices, that got worked out and now the blame is the price of gas. We are being gouged at the grocery store for record profits from these companies. An executive order might be a bad idea but sitting around and doing nothing about it is also a really bad idea.

The idea worked in Cuba. Food prices there are still low.
If you can find food.

My comment was obviously waaaaayyyyyyyyy over your head. The very obvious point is that these clowns absolutely are not interested in doing everything possible to lower food prices. Whether it's getting gas prices back down or reducing the burdensome impact of government regulation, they aren't about to do anything that impacts federally collected revenue.

The prices of rice, beans, and plantains are low pretty much everywhere. Bon appetit.

Hell, I just found out that Cuba has to import sugar. Sugar was their major export for over a century. I have no idea how they screwed that up.

I hunt and fish, I buy very little meat at food stores. with that said my wife and I budget $100 a week for us to buy groceries and we make it work with meal planning and cooking almost every night. with all that said letting companies raise prices and record record profits is a bad no matter what administration is in charge.

their farmland has gone to shite in the last 30yrs, the over planting of the same crops and not taking care of the soil has killed the dirt in Cuba. My brother in law has gone to Cuba 5-6 times in the last few years doing out reach with the Methodist Church. Last trip he stayed on a farm for a few days and they talked about the condition of the soil.

My grandfather ran a refinery in Cuba before Castro. He said the weather is so warm they plant and harvest in 6 months. So, you can do 2 crops in 12 months. The soil was carefully maintained. But in those days everyone above manual labor level was an American or European who were hired because they knew what they were doing.
