My hatred toward McCain is such that I believe he may have signaled he would vote "FOR" the tax reform knowing that he would really be in the hospital and unable to vote = thereby killing the bill w/o his actual fingerprints on it.

Agree completely - I think all of the federal departments be scattered throughout the nation. Make them travel on their own dime to have their little dinner parties where the scheme outside the public view.
There are places in New Mexico, S. Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Kansas, Louisiana, Idaho, W. Virginia that could use the diversion of all those DC $$$$-bags into their areas.
When 5 of the 6 richest counties in the USA surround the DC capitol something is not quite right. The government is purchasing millions of votes to support their existence there. The people of that area need to compete for the support of 'real people,' not rely on the money-machine of the federal government, in order to make their living. They are being insulated from bad policy by being always at the teat of federal $$$$.
