Ok. And? What is the point supposed to be? Has anyone said that you need to have been born in the United States to be a citizen even though you have US citizen parents? I haven't seen anyone in this thread say that.

No.

I also don’t support Illegal Immigration or birthright citizenship

Neither do I and neither does my father. Yet you keep conflating illegal immigration with legal immigration.

If you believe that the American system is the best in the world at lifting people out of poverty like I do, then I don't see why poor immigrants shouldn't be welcomed here provided they do it legally, contribute to society and embrace our constitutional and free market principles. Because if they do these things, they will very likely end up succeeding in life.

I'm desperately trying to figure out what point you're trying to make, but all I can come up with is that you're foaming at the mouth over Republicans hypothetically not showing the same enthusiasm when a Democrat wins elections as they do when Republicans win.

Nobody should be showing enthusiasm about something so stupid and trivial. Goes for BOTH republicans and democrats.

There's a heck of a lot of people that need birthright citizenship in this country. I don't. It makes Mickey's web of contradictions irrelevant. To say that someone who was born in Mexico is just as much of an American as I am is laughable. Just like if I emigrated to Saudi Arabia it wouldn't make me a Saudi or if I emigrated to Poland a Pole. Race/ethnicity has nothing to do with it.

I've only pointed out how absurd partisan politics has become that we are forced into 'celebrating' for LGBTQ+ or Immigrants being elected into congress or political appointments. We will see how this goes in 5 months. I suspect the people who are big mad and arguing with me now will take the same position I have now when Flores loses her seat.

Under the laws of the United States, every single US citizen is just as much of an American as you are. Your perception of what constitutes an American or makes one "more" American is not relevant in any way.

quote:

ust like if I emigrated to Saudi Arabia it wouldn't make me a Saudi or if I emigrated to Poland a Pole.

Both countries have tiered citizenship, so you would be correct.

Race/ethnicity has nothing to do with it.

Actually, in the two nations you have chosen to use, race and ethnicity have everything to do with it. You would be a Saudi citizen, or a Polish citizen. You will not be actually ethnically Saudi or Polish. There is no "American ethnicity". You're conflating semantics.

Regardless, using any example of any other country, all of which have their own, different laws, to make a point about US citizenship is mind-numbingly stupid.

Goes back to why I posted only 33 countries on planet earth have birthright citizenship. The other 170 odd countries know what they are doing and aren't stupid.

Would it be 'racist', 'mean' or 'unfair' if it were to be repealed by our Government?

Would it be it be 'racist', 'mean' or 'unfair' if we eliminated Legal Immigration?

Would it be it be 'racist', 'mean' or 'unfair' if we did mass deportations of Illegal Immigrants?

Would it be it be 'racist', 'mean' or 'unfair' if we were to take away the huge out of control Welfare/Social Safety net we have in this country?

This^^^^ is not the same as this

I agree with the second statement. But is has no correlation to the first.

It's laughable that you think someone who was born in Mexico but has lived here since they were 6 years old and is a legal citizen is somehow less American than you are.

Racist? No. Mean and unfair are subjective terms.

Racist? Not if universally applied. Mean and unfair are subjective terms. It would also be very stupid policy and incredibly unpopular politically. In fact you are the only person I have ever seen or heard hold that position.

Reality is they are Mickey. Just like if I were to emigrate to Poland or Hungary it wouldn't make me equal to them. We are from different countries and cultures. Just like how America and Mexico are different (though this is changing by the year) America is also different than Poland or Hungary and I wouldn't expect their people to consider me their equal because the truth is I am not. I am in their country and must respect it. Not the other way around.

My point is this:

Before we explore any more Legal or Illegal Immigration in this country we must get our fiances in order. We must help legal native born Americans first. So, in doing that I would propose:

-a 5 year Legal Immigration moratorium.
-ending birthright citizenship
-mass deportations of all Illegal Immigrants no matter wealth, social status, or country of origin

Only after this can we start to allow Legal Immigration again and it will be based on a merit system and be limited to 10,000 a year total.

You likely disagree but we have to get America fixed first before taking on the World's problems. Our current way of doing things is not sustainable by any economic metric in 2022.

America isn't one single culture. Someone from Mississippi probably wouldn't fit in if they moved to New Jersey or San Francisco.

This isn't your country alone. It's yours and theirs, even if they have different cultures than you do.

America has always been a melting pot. It's a huge country with many different backgrounds, history, and cultures. None are "more American" than the other.
