Do you have any idea what the man actually said??
It doesn't matter what he said. His very presence lent legitimacy to this group. Spin it however you want, but republicans beginning with Mike Foster have been salivating at the prospect of tapping into Duke's base of support and Scalise is no exception.

In politics, optics is the only thing that matters.

Why would it matter even if Scalise spoke in front of the group knowing they were White Supremacist? Other's past don't seem to matter?!

As a freshman at Columbia University in 1970, future Attorney General Eric Holder participated in a five-day occupation of an abandoned Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) headquarters with a group of black students later described by the university’s Black Students’ Organization as “armed,” The Daily Caller has learned. Department of Justice spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler has not responded to questions from The Daily Caller about whether Holder himself was armed — and if so, with what sort of weapon.

Can someone please explain to me why the shite dems do have any relationship to conservative politicians?
Posted on 12/31/14 at 1:39 pm to mahdragonz
Shouldn't White Supremacist deserve equal representation as every other group?

hmmm - could it be to highlight blatant hypocrisy??
If you want me to be outraged - you need to tell me what Scalise said to the group.
Can you do that??
If not, you can stfu.

They should get representation, just not by conservatives.
White supremacists are idiots and have no place in an intelligent conversation.
Any true fiscal conservative knows promoting one race over another is illogical and useless.
At least some conservatives are saying what needs to be said about Scalise.
“This is acidic for the Republican Party,” said Peter Wehner, a former adviser to President George W. Bush. “I just think it is an untenable position to have a person in the leadership of the Republican Party in the House who has spoken to a white supremacist group.”

Dems faux outrage. They will yell about anything Republicans do then fall deaf and dumb when Dems do it.

I usually cringe when I hear the "if the other side did this" type of arguments, but it is striking that this is such a big deal for Scalise when Obama had the free pass for sitting in Jeremiah Wright's church for a couple of decades.

IMHO, this needn't be difficult.
If he DID speak to that organization, he should apologize for his mistake in not realizing what they stood for and step down from his leadership position in order to allow the party to move on from the controversy.

He admitted he spoke to them about tax policy. He has already apologized and called it a mistake.
I don't think he needs to resign- he spoke about tax policy. A failure to vet should not be a fatal mistake.
However, I know politics is now a game of optics, but personally, I don't think what he did should be cause for him to lose his leadership position.

Not to mention that Al Sharpton has had about 80 visits to the White House as the unofficial race czar and besides being a blatant racists, is also a tax cheat!

You really think keeping Scalise is a net benefit for the conservative political movement?
Why is it that far left whacked out nutjobs are always trying to "help" the political fortunes of conservatives?

I'm not far left. I'm a conservative who hates stupid.
And some congressman who claims he didn't know he was going to meet with a group of white supremacists and is being vouched for by David dukes people is not someone who represents me and shows the GOP doesn't care about minority or intelligent voters.
Like someone else said, at least Paul rand appears to care.

Do you not understand that there is a world of difference between a 19-year old college student doing something stupid and a 36-year old elected state representative?

So you only want the GOP to represent people who fall inside the tent that you inhabit? What if you were anti- gay and Scalise went to a pro gay crowd for a fund raiser? Would you be against that?

Scalise's meeting was 12 years ago making Scalise 24 at the time. Is that a world of difference?
Posted on 12/31/14 at 2:48 pm to Revelator
I think he already subtracted the 12 years when calling him 36.
