Look at the bright side. According to Obama we will have fewer terrorists now. There have to be hundreds if not thousands of shovel ready jobs to clean up the mess.

I'm not a chemist, but I have experience with explosives.
A large portion of the color of an explosion like that is based on the color of the most frangible material around the site of the explosion. Although it is possible that part of this red coloring is characteristic of a specific set of precursor/explosive content or that explosion mixing chemically with the environment, most likely is that the explosion occurred in an area with reddish orange soil.
