Last weekend at least 155 people were murdered In a gun and bomb attack in the Sinai.

Probably ISIS

Gun control laws in Egypt require permits for even smooth bore weapons, and the government decides who gets permits, what kinds of weapons will be permitted, and durations of permits (no permanent permits).

The result of gun control in Egypt has been a massive black market for firearms. The problem is so widespread and well known that the government is sponsoring amnesty periods for citizens to turn in illegal firearms.

So the Egyptian government has made gun owners into outlaws, and people who are outlaws anyway are able to slaughter other Egyptian citizens with no fear of return fire.

Edit: Original article said this happened Sunday, but I’ve since seen that it happened in the last day. And death count is over 200.

Why not make murder and terrorism illegal,so even if they got guns they couldn’t kill.

Australia had an amnesty period this year and more than 50,000 guns and one rocket launcher were turned in.

Gun laws won't stop people from getting guns.

Let’s hear it for tired, nihilistically stupid sarcasm that completely prevents one from having to discuss complex issues with any clarity or depth. Bravo.

It’s a perfectly concise argumentative point, you’re just too stupid to comprehend it.

Nice melt though

BTW how is it “nihilistically stupid” I think you wanted to use a big word there but it has zero connotation to my point which you completely failed to grasp.

There is a difference between not having a discussion, and becoming argumentative to shout down a discussion that you don’t like.

I think you fail to grasp the definition of connotation, but that’s the least troubling aspect of your argument.

Let's hear it for not ONE....SINGLE....ARGUMENT that can defeat this "nihilistically [sic] stupid" truth. /thread

It’s just as stupid as “let’s ban guns” thanks for driving my argument home.

Gun bans seem to have worked fairly well in other countries. I’m sure you’ll argue that because gun violence wasn’t completely eradicated, this reflects a policy failure.

They would work ok in high trust, socially cohesive countries.
In other words, not the United States in 2017.

People who want to ban guns in the USA are living in fantasy land.

If the left wants guns banned so badly, why don’t they start asking all Democrats to surrender their weapons first? Lead by example.

I’d add that you need limited borders to cut down on easy smuggling or you get a rampant black market like Egypt has.

And they have failed miserably in many more, Mexico being a prime example, but I’m sure you weren’t going to talk about those places right.

Right, but that argument then inevitably gets reduced to “let’s do absolutely nothing.” There are many, many common sense measures well short of an outright ban that could be implemented.

I applaud you for even acknowledging the data that gun bans DO reduce gun violence.
