Cuban has been talking to people on both sides trying to find a way to fix our healthcare system... and from what he’s said he thinks we currently talk about insurance too much and not enough about people’s actual health. He also seems to be looking at costs from a standpoint of income, such as people who make around 100k a year shouldn’t pay over 10% for healthcare.

Also looking to make a Costco type service for medications that would lower costs.

Not sure what the end result will be, but it’s good some smart/entrepreneurial type people are taking an interest in fixing our healthcare in the country.

Good point

Giving the nation insurance doesn’t necessarily mean people are healthier.

Health is not insurance.

Repeal McCarran-Ferguson act?
quote:

Insurance firms in each state are protected from interstate competition by the federal McCarran-Ferguson Act (1945), which grants states the right to regulate health plans within their borders. Large employers who self-insure are exempt from these state regulations. The result has been a patchwork of 50 different sets of state regulations and the cost for an insurer licensed in one state to enter another state market is often high.

I'm not Mark Cuban.

A high deductible, family plan shouldn't have a $1700+ monthly premium on the private exchange. BCBS can eat shite.

It can’t hurt. He will approach it from a way different perspective than any government think tank. That’s a good thing.

It would be ironic if he and Trump would get together and do this.

I would be interested to know if they are doing this on their own, or they were asked to try and come up with something as business leaders.

If I remember correctly, him and Cuban were the reason why UFC took off. I'm curious what happened.

Cuban’s smart enough to see the bending-over he’s likely to get the next time the Marxist thieves take the reins. Better to use his head now than have his wealth stolen later.

All by design. You think Obama was going to make the poor pay for their own healthcare?

Look insurance is not the problem—-cost of health services are the problem.

We should take Medicaid and Medicare to a subscription based pricing model and give subscribers $x to subscribe to health services and let them shop for competing plans. They can have any money they save. Making shoppers out of all these people will drive down cost.

By moving those two government programs to such a program private plans will move that direction.

No amount of money will help you understand healthcare. It is so screwed up that being a billionaire doesn't change the fact that he probably couldn't tell you whats on his EOB. Valiant effort but a rookie ain't fixing healthcare.

Group insurance has always been the problem with our healthcare system

Its why healthcare costs are so high. People just say "oh well my insurance will take care of it" so they have no idea how much shite actually costs, which puts an artificial lift on health prices
