Umm, are you forgetting Jenna Bush? Who really gives a shite about this. She's got a cool summer job, and yeah it was through connections, but this happens all the time.

It was only a matter of time before the children were old enough to enrage politards.

Such a boner kill. Clicked on the thread expecting some great circle jerk material, left flaccid.

2/10 apply yourself.

So what? She has a life and I applaud her actually working and gaining experience. It's not her fault her dad's president.

The kids should be off limits. They aren't when they're Republican, of course, but they all should be, period.

I would suggest that she be an Aid to Senator Reid or Rep Pelosi. Tht would be learning experience and worth the cost of taxpayer money.

What if she doesn't want to go into politics? What if she wants to be a movie producer? Seems as if this is the better start. Stop going after the kids who have done really nothing but been born.

I don't care, but who sends their 16 year old girl to Hollywood for a summer job?

Cool.

Over the long haul, it'll be cheaper than keeping him employed.

How soon can he vacate?

Grown and getting into politics is one thing - a kid, even a stupid, drunk college kid, who didn't choose to be the President's daughter should be off limits.

Unfortunately it is, mainly, a product of the 60s, and is typically only an issue with younger Presidents - JFK, WJC, GWB and BHO (and that's 3 in a row with young children in the WH - so definitely a trend, now.) It was generally positive with JFK's kids, but since then - not so much.

Chelsea got a little bit of the business, but W's twins really took a beating by the press. Thus far, the Obama girls have been spared a lot of this. As his popularity tanks (second term swoon, verified, now) - some negative personal press is predictable, but I wish more of it would be directed at him and Michelle, who certainly deserve it, as opposed to the kids who seem to be just normal kids (or as normal as they can be under the circumstances).

ETA: I just processed something - 3 consecutive 2-term presidents - all with school age children, 5 total children - no boys.

Weird.

I wonder how much tax payer money is being spent on secret service protect, lodging, etc.

Sounds like economic development. Creating jobs, etc. Probably has a net positive economic impact when you consider the money gets put back into the economy and reused.

GWB's daughters were already college age when he got elected.

You're right, but it was close - they graduated in 2000 - during the campaign.

I stand corrected.
