Nearly 30 (!!) point swing since December

"Over all, 51 percent of Americans approve of the tax law, while 46 percent disapprove, according to a poll for The New York Times conducted between Feb. 5 and Feb. 11 by SurveyMonkey. Approval has risen from 46 percent in January and 37 percent in December, when the law was passed."

Amazing that the Dems and the MSM tried to make it sound so awful when they knew it would be popular. Never understood that strategy

Will only continue in that direction. Especially if the CRUMBS Act is passed.

What's more amazing is that it still polls negative with Democrats. It just goes to show you how dishonest they are. They are literally unable to admit something positive...even as it becomes obvious.

Now, more than ever before (and that says a lot) truth is a function of what Democrats want rather than what is real.

Politics

When the opposition passes legislation, the easiest course is to either downplay it and/or twist it into something it isn't.

I would love to know why 46% don’t approve.

Off all the red state democrats up for reelection, Joe Manchin is going to really regret voting no on the tax bill the hardest.

It's going to hurt him big time in a state that went for trump by 43 points.

The strategy is actually really very simple. They knew the majority of Americans would love the benefits the tax cuts would afford them, and so did everything in their power to foment dissent to dissuade moderate Republicans to vote no. They didn't want it to pass because if it became a smashing success it could end up hurting them big time in the mid-terms.

Their ultimate goal is to take Congress back this fall. They can't do that if Americans are happy with the direction the country is moving in.

It'll back fire this fall when Republicans run ads of the local Dem talking about the tax bill as if the dead would be lining the streets.

Yeah just hopefully these permanent tax cuts for companies and the temporary tax cuts for the middle class don’t frick up stuff for the future.

Good. The left’s narrative was ridiculous and needs to go away forever. The idea to allow people to keep their money should be universally accepted.

Yeah. I wish it was permanent as well, but hopefully this will end up such a positive that it gives them no choice but to keep it going.

Some of them are in high-tax states like NY or CA and get smoked on the loss of deductibility, and generate enough taxable income for this point to be relevant. But I would suspect the vast majority are either idiots or don't pay taxes at all anyway.

Good old Mittens was dead on:

Half the country doesn't pay taxes. So, why would they be in favor of you or I paying less in taxes?
