less than a 1% cut. It's a step in the right direction but drastic cuts need to happen.

He should do what Jindal did here. Freeze wages and cut through attrition. When someone retires or leaves, just merge their job with someone else. You could cut 1/4 of the workforce and no one would even notice.

yeah but when you are collecting less than you are spending every year it's kind of a big problem.

What's your point? You really think the cost of government goes down as the population increases? I'm more concerned about how it is spent as opposed to how much is spent.
It’s increasing on a per capita basis

In April, there were 2,789,000 people employed in civilian federal government jobs. In May, that declined to 2,786,000, a drop of 3,000.
But we still have 2,786,000 CIVILIAN federal government jobs. So I have 2 questions:
1) Do you have any doubt why these Deep Staters hate Trump?
2) What have these people done for you? They do work for you and are supposed to be civil SERVANTS!!!

Most importantly, Trump quietly signed two EOs recently. One limits the power of employee unions, and the other removed the graduated discipline system that supervisors had to execute to remove a federal employee.
Now, federal employees can be fired on the spot for conduct or after a 30 day PIP for performance.
Yuge.

You mean like government retirement plans do?
Right. I'd rather pay an obscene amount to a contractor that comes and goes as opposed to paying the government to do the same thing with obscene pensions tied to the cost.

while I agree with what these orders have done I would rather the president not be issuing orders and go through congress/senate instead. I didn't like it when Bush or Obama did it and I don't like it when Trump does it.

Completely understand. But this allows them to right size the Fed workforce quickly which takes time to beef back up once it’s undone.
Congress would never allow the Fed workforce to be reduced. This is one EO I agree with.

I didn't see this thread when I started my thread on the same topic this afternoon. Excuse me.

contractors = business owners.
they're paying their fair share, I can promise you that.
Keep money in small business, not big gov't.
That’s not to say contractors can’t be more efficient than beurocracy.. but color me skeptical that those efficiencies always result in a net benefit to the taxpayer, especially for federal contracts or anything in the state of Louisiana...
Regardless, the real metric IMO is where we land on overall spending.

That's close to $2 billion insalaries and benefits. Trump doing work!
Unbelievably, he doesn't take a salary for this. A CEO cutting costs and raising the economic well being of the company the way Trump has done with the U.S. economy would be paid an 8-9 figure compensation.
The man is an incredible machine!

So less than 1%. Needs to be cut to 1.5 million employees.

Yay!!! A bunch of people lost their jobs!!!! I hope some of those people had families that were depending on that income. That would be even better!!!

That's part of the whole checks and balance system. Executive orders circumvent that. Sooner or later somebody will be in office signing orders that you don't agree with.

Reduce funding to states that refuse to shrink their bloated payroll like California.
