I went back to LSU after 10 years to finish my degree. This was my response to resident Galligan.

quote:

President Galligan,
I just heard about the LSU faculty senate resolution requiring students to get the COVID vaccine. I urge you STRONGLY as a student to put an end to this nonsense. How could this university be so uneducated? Will you really put 18 year olds under the needle of a drug that is not FDA approved? Will you make 18 year olds take a drug that doesn’t hold the producers liable in the eyes of the law? Like everyone likes to say “follow the science”. Let those uneducated teachers get their vaccines, they’re fully mature adults. But do not force these YOUNG adults to take a vaccine for a disease that statistically is not threatening to them. Please stand by your earlier statement, and stand up for your students.

He emailed back this morning and told me to contact the student government (even though he’s the damn president), and told me that people will “disagree on this issue, but good conversation should help.” LSU you make me sad

Many of the 18 year olds you referenced have been barraged for a year with COVID propaganda and are already vaccinated.

They probably consider you a murderer for standing up against the decision.

No doubt. It’s really insane how much this school has changed in just a shade over 10 years

The faculty senate has no authority over this. It's just good ol' virtue signaling.

Can’t you just say you have a religious exemption or be a conscientious objector? For example, I heard Muslims don’t get vaccines because they contain animal matter or pig or something like that.

I graduated in 1984 and they won't get another dime from me. I have one more child to put through college and LSU is off the list.

Faculty Senate resolutions are not university policy. It's just them announcing what they want to happen.

Just identify as a fully vaccinated person since it’s one of their cardinal sins to question anyone’s “truth”, problem solved.

Classic “I don’t give a shite what you think” response.

The mush headed liberals on campus are. The rest of the kids don’t give a frick about it. Many of them had “Covid parties.” They unlike the boomers running the university, followed the science and understood that they are in no statistical danger from this virus

Applications are up for the upcoming fall. What's telling is that out of state applications are up almost 20% over last year while "in state" applications are down again.

Um, the vaccines were approved under emergency use applications.

To make a valid argument I would cite literature detailing how little is known about the safety and efficacy of RNA based drugs. How RNA, by its nature, can do far more than simply code for a desired gene. Also, how there is plenty of new findings showing that people are having autoantibody formation when contracting COVID and how there is no evidence to suggest that a vaccine designed to produce antibodies would not do the same in certain people.

ETA: You should escalate to the Dean of Students. That will get you further than the student government.

I have seen this stuff mentioned, but legit links have not been forthcoming. In short, if you are going to go this route, you better have your information on point, and your sources at the ready.

Most 18 year olds are mentally ill progressives who think China Virus is going to kill them so they want the vaccine. Don't think there isn't student support for this.

I haven't seen the numbers for this upcoming school year, but back last September they announced a record high overall enrollment (34,290).

autoantibodies from covid

RNAi Therapeutics

While I'm not citing mRNA specifically, it should be noted that RNA based drugs are promising but still have much that needs to be studied.
