That's this board, only they're in the south.

Suboptimal?

How long do you envision these tariffs crushing bus drivers?

I have no idea what timeframe Trump has on this. He clearly has no problem injecting random chaos into markets without communication.

This policy has robbed so many futures of so many poor, black children that it legit makes me mad. I grew up around that shite. It's terrible.

The same deception is enacted to members of rural communities by people soliciting their votes. Odd you choose to give those snakes a pass.

Uh, we were told there would be reciprocal tariffs, and that's not even what we got

A partial based on things other than tariff rates.

The important miscommunication was the reciprocity of tariff rates, which is not what the policy entails.

White people in the Rust belt were casualties of deindustrialization, which also impact Black folks on top of systemic racism.

Are schools really protecting them or ensuring they will have no future? It’s all intentional.

The exponential increase has caused major ripples domestically and internationally because that was not what was promoted prior to yesterday.

Again, chaos.

You and those affected should have foreseen this as possibility and made better decisions. You only have yourself to blame on this one chief.

What created this culture?

Bad choices snowballing into a pathological culture over a few generations.

This divergence didn't happen until after Jim Crow, during the 60s onward with the expanded welfare state.

Just look up the rate of teen pregnancies and 2-parent households.

No no the MAGA types use "globalism" as the vague, institutional boogeyman (the corollary for systemic racism for Leftists)

Schools are mandated to protect bad kids via insane/illogical educational policies, and these bad kids are allowed to linger and ensure few, if any, children around them get an education.

Protecting the bad kids and ensuring no future for the good kids is enraging.

I’m enjoying this discourse but I have to go. I’ll respond when I can. Check back at some point if you don’t mind so we can continue.

As I said, I'm keenly aware. Many of the folks I've seen from that side of the tracks were bullet-ridden in dire shape. Very sad stuff. It is a lifestyle generated out of hopelessness. What kind of quality job can someone who barely graduated highschool get in a country with few blue collar domestic manufacturing opportunities?

Now that is not the whole story, but it's a substantial part. No one aspires to be twenty-something GSW murder statistic. It's not a prescored mindset.

a. There are plenty of blue collar opportunities, manufacturing or otherwise

b. That culture of dismissing education has pathological consequences

Hence, culture. I'm not saying it's genetic or epigenetic or anything. This is culture developed over multiple generations.

.

Construction. Pays better, has paid apprenticeships and massive shortages because people are fricking lazy.

Perhaps there's not the pride in workmanship there should be. But I'd hesitate to call folks doing blue collar work in their 40's, 50's, and 60's "lazy."
