So you want the federal government to take full control of how the States run their own elections?
First, I never said "full control" but I don't see a problem with standardization to some further degree in this instance. There are many variables currently that are causing unrest/loss of faith in the system. I also don't believe that the state level on everything is inherently better than federal.

We are a Republic. Conservatives are supposed to be for States rights. There is no bigger "state right' than the individual states handling their own elections.

Last time I early voted they had a big tub by the exit door with a person reminding you to put your card in it as you left.

I voted today in Florida and had a pan and bubbles to fill-in with my specific numbered ballot
Ivan inserted it into the machine to scan and they kept the ballots. There is an absolute record of the vote in case there had to be a mandatory recount

Is there a way for you to see it afterwards? I heard Texas has this. Would be nice.

I was told to keep the card in the machine until you are done then remove.

I don't think so but it is circled bubbles so I know there is a hard copy of my vote and i had to confirm the special number attached to my name before they would release the ballot. So they have specific ID and a numbered ballot ties to your name
I'm pretty happy about that

I took it out and handed it to the poll worker after I was done. Like everyone else that was doing it.

New update from JP
They were making people leave the cards in the machine because people earlier were not seeing the cast ballot button and were taking the cards out and setting of alarms on the machines. They did not realize why the alarms were going off at first and this is the reason they were having people leave them.

Every time I have voted once I cast my vote and I am done . I remove the card and place it into a box on the way out the door . EVERYTIME.

oK. Well I have updated my post and gave the reason. They were trying to track down and error on the machines due to someone removing the card before pressing the cast ballot button.

They did. I imagine being the same thing happened to the rep he got curious about it. People voting before me were skipping the cast ballot button and pulling the card out causing alarms on the machines. The poll workers weren't sure what was causing the alarms and thought it was something with removing the cards and they wanted to see if they could duplicate the error.
