What's the difference between paying an admissions officer or coach
Getting your daughters a seat on a rowing team for a scholarship when they've never rowed anything related to a boat in their life has some WTF connotations to it don't you think?

If y’all haven’t listened to the podcast Gangster Capitalism give it a listen. It’s the best summary of this scandal there is and has Lori on the wire agreeing to wash the money through a “charity” to pay her kid into USC, then deducting it from her taxes. That’s where these people fricked up.
The podcast explains there is a front door to college admissions (doing it on merit), a back door (paying the school tons as a donation to get your kid in) and this scandal was a side door (lying to everyone and bribing/cheating your way in under the guise of being legitimate front door folks).

You can blame the situation these two are in on many things, but don’t for a second tell me their counsel has failed them.
Good post

How's this: tell your kid "NO". She isn't smart enough for USC so she needs to pick another school to party at. Or get a bf on campus.
From all reports, Olivia Jade didn't want to go to college at all. This was all on Aunt Becky because she is hyper competitive and wanted her kids at a top university. Even Mossimo was just getting carried along. He dropped out of school and used his tuition money to start his business. That is why Olivia Jade is still pissed at Aunt Becky. She was making good cash on cosmetics and the Youtube deal. I don't know if the other sister wanted a little help or not.

It's rare that I agree with you but there is no disputing the truth of this. This was so very avoidable for them but they stepped right into it anyway. Reap what you sow

I'm just saying, fire the coach...he's the one that took the bribe and fabricated that she was an athlete. And he was fired.
But what about school Presidents that have let in "legacies" and "politically powerful" when if they weren't so connected would have never gotten in, ever.
Bribes have been going on forever "legitmately" at Ivy Leagues...with rich families and donors. How the frick did George Bush get into Yale?
He had a 1,200 SAT when it usually takes a 1,500.
1,200 is lower than an average ASU SAT score. Bribes can come in money, donations or political connections. They're still just bribes.
But he was G.W.'s son. Probably bought a building...or threatened some CIA shite.
As a private school, it's a private matter...no tax dollars were involved...she wanted to give a private school a lot of money for her child to get in....that's a business transaction that if the private school wants to accept, so be it. Yale accepted George.
The only real crime in this matter is internal. A coach defrauded the school and gave her a phony place on a team...he committed an offense against the school's admissions policy. This is an internal matter. Lori didn't bribe some government official to have her kid get off on some charges.

Personally IDGAF about it and TBH I can't see that there's a victim....the university is getting paid so they're not the victim and the kids get into college (whether or not deserved)
You would be right if Universities weren’t sucking federal and state taxpayers dry. Stop taking government $$ and you can do this all day every day.

“They feel like this is David versus Goliath," a source close to Loughlin, 55, told People. "How do you go up against the federal government, when the government has decided to make an example out of you? How can you possibly move forward from this?”
The only difference is, he was set up. Loughlin did this to herself.

Dude you don’t know the basic facts of this case. Lori is on a wire tap recording explaining to the fixer how she is completely okay donating 500k to this “charity,” that she knows is not a charity, that is in fact a front to launder that money to pay bribes to school officials, test administrators and others. And then she proceeds to talk about how great it is that she can claim this charitable contribution on her taxes.
Save me the bullshite about Lori did nothing wrong. She is caught stone cold, dead to rights. The feds, in this case caught the guy running the scheme first, then used him, with a wiretap, to catch each and every “client” he was handling. It was a brilliant takedown.
Lori could have absolutely used the same back door that you cite Presidents and others using through legit donations of massive size (although those typically require something around $5 million to even begin with). She didn’t, she cheated everyone.

she had and raised a beautiful daughter and was trying to do what was in her interest even if misguided.
I don’t give a frick that she “took” a spot instead of some purple haired tranny pursuing a degree in black lives matter
So if she robbed a bank and stole half a million dollars it’s okay because she has a beautiful daughter she was just trying to do right by? Come on.
Oh and what about the kid actually rowing or kicking field goals that’s only shot at going to USC is on athletic scholarship? No sympathy for them? That is whose spot Lori bribed and stole. Or how about the honest taxpayer waking up this morning to grind it out at work, who pisses away a huge chunk of his check each week paying taxes? Lori screwed them too, rules don’t apply to her.
