You know McCain's replacement will not vote to confirm, nor Jeff Flake. Then you have your folks like Susan Collins, so there are three "no" votes from the RINO Caucus.

I disagree that McCain's replacement won't vote to confirm anyone that Trump nominates. The article I read about McCain possibly announcing his retirement on the 4th stated he wanted to make sure there was someone there who could vote for the nominee since it is so important to the party.

The joke is on you , both parties certainly do not care if their hypocrisy is obvious.

bullshite. McCain only cares about McCain.

Him resigning means that he wants to ensure his wife gets the seat rather than having people promise she get it and him not living to ensure it.

If she votes against the nominee, I suggest Mitch withhold all committee seats from her.

Trump does not need to go with a centrist. He needs a hardcore conservative.

Why should you party with Catholics? Every time there is four of them, there isn’t a fifth too far away.

While your stated reason of preference is a good enough answer, do I detect a slight fear of history repeating itself?

Yes. I'd prefer a Conservative Protestant over a Roman Catholic.

Yes. What makes you think I'm anti-first amendment by expressing my displeasure about their religious affiliation?

Yeah, we're all bigots. I'm honest that I prefer certain individuals and groups over others.

So it's okay for you to have your religious beliefs (however tainted with blind hatred they may be), but not a Supreme Court Justice? So tell me Mr. Cromwell, how do think a Conservative Catholic Justice would interpret the constitutionality of a law any different that a Conservative Protestant?

I have a personal preference towards Conservative Protestants

Well, I do as well, but there are far more Catholics sitting as judges, at least when you get further up, than there are Protestants, right?

I wonder what would happen were Trump to nominate Jay Sekulow?

Same here, but I'm just glad we'll get a Conservative of any kind.

Not really. The 1st amendment wouldn't allow for history to repeat itself regarding the RC vs Protestant schisms and persecutions (on both sides). I'm an ideological and religious bigot.

Anyone who supported the refusal to even give Garland a hearing has no room to complain about delay or obstructionist tactics, although I believe any nominee should receive a fair hearing.

Of course anyone and everyone can believe as they please and that includes those aspiring to the highest court. My preference has nothing to do with wanting to force people to believe a certain way.

My preference is neither blind nor based on hate.

An individual justice may or may not interpret the Constitution differently. I think there is a greater risk of having the Pope or the RC Church doctrine as a whole guide the justice's opinions on a matter, which I disagree with.
