It was 109 today in DFW. We would welcome the cold snap.

You play soccer in 60 Celsius.

Texas has become well-nigh illivable this summer. Maybe if we got about 10% of the cars off the road, emissions would be less and temps might start to reduce.
What about a one day/week furlough for all Texas drivers?

You’re such a fricking idiot. Just shut up and let the adults talk

The early 1900’s up until 1911 had massive heat waves. It killed a crap ton of people

Or maybe you are just a puss?
I'm thinking that's it.
You should move north...way, way north. You would fit in better there.

Who will reimburse small businesses across the state who depend upon their employees to drive to work (and can’t afford a one day/week furlough)? Or medical and/or emergency services personnel?
Not a realistic (nor effective) response to summertime in Texas.

How about staggered furloughs for Texas drivers? Of course everyone wouldn't be off the road the same day. We need to reduce emissions in this state.
Not trying to be a drama queen, but...the current status quo is untenable, and with a statewide AVERAGE temp (highs & lows) nearing 90°F, with all the pine trees, brush and potentially flammable vegetation, this state could literally catch on fire!

Why are you attributing summertime heat to drivers/commuters?
I’ve neither seen nor read any peer-reviewed evidence that Texas could spontaneously “catch on fire.” If you know of such research/data-driven hypotheses, I’m genuinely interested in reading them.

There were wildfires in 2011, in Bastrop, Grimes and Montgomery Counties that destroyed thousands of acres. And this year is even hotter and drier than 2011!

You might have been there the same year I was. They had a week of mid to upper 80s in July and you would have sworn the Brits were in a Tugg Speedman Scorcher film.

Wildfire season in Texas is an annual phenomenon that’s nothing new.
The 2011 unprecedented wildfires were the collective result of: (a) the 2011 drought (the driest 3 months on record in Texas history exacerbated by Texas summertime temps); (b) dead vegetation/dry pines; and (c) critically high winds.
Again, to tie this to people driving on Texas roads seems a tad simple.

The heat and drought of 2022 dwarfs that of the torrid summers of 1980, 2009 and 2011. June in Houston set a new record (86.7° F vs 86.2°) and the July temp this year will blow the 1980 record out of the water, by at least 1.5°!
The situation with heat and drought in Texas and the plains states is bad enough this year that the president has declared a climate emergency!

God the Brits are such weenies. No wonder we kicked their asses twice with our backups. Grow a pair.
