TONTITOWN (KFSM) -- Popular outdoors brand YETI is at the center of controversy in regards to the brand ending a discount program with the National Rifle Association.

Owner at Ozark Sportsman Supply Phillip Coates said he made the decision to pull YETI products from his store after reading a statement that said, “Suddenly, without prior notice, YETI has declined to do business with The NRA Foundation saying they no longer wish to be an NRA vendor, and refused to say why,” from an article in the "NRA-ILA".

part 3 As of this notice we are pulling all Yeti Products from our show room floors. They will be boxed up and stored. We won’t put them on the streets at all. It’s a loss we will take in a show of Support for the NRA and their endeavors.

part 2 as Yeti has by pulling sponsorship from the NRA. By pulling their support from groups that fight for our rights Yeti has proven to be on the opposite side of the street from the conservative Majority at a crucial time in our country’s history.

I'm actually not offended by YETI's apparent lack of support for gun rights

I'm offended by their stupidity and total inability to gauge the opinions of their primary customer base

If people don't think Academy won't follow suit they are crazy. There are tons of other cooler companies out there and if their stuff doesn't sell because of public reaction then Academy and others will call RTIC or Pelican or Bison or one of the other fifty companies and fill up the demand that's out there for non-Yeti products.

Yeti isn’t losing customers, their support is just becoming more selective.

Pickup Truck owner with Yeti Sticker on the back takes out his truck to prove a point.

You don’t Spinal Tap, do you?

The joke is that they’re in denial that their popularity is circling the drain.

I probably would have just taken the sticker off, but that’s me.

Spinal Tap joke.

In the movie, the manager insists they aren’t becoming less popular, but instead their fan base is becoming “more selective”.

Shortly thereafter he cancels their show in Boston and tells them “No worries, not a big college town.”

actually it seems they do, which is why they tried to do it on the DL

maybe so, but taking a preening corporate stance that nobody knows about?

What's the point?

My bad.

The pelican butt trend that's coming should be good as a nice side benefit.

It's insane that they've put themselves in a position that this is starting to look like the best play.
