Now you tell me, why did Trump wait over an hour and a half from when it became a riot to when he told people to go home? After all, he had people from both parties begging him to tell his people to disperse - but he waited. Why?

I mean like i said in my last post, there is more context there.

But to say he was in WH doing nothing is just not factual. Which I take issue with.

You can critique, thats fine. I dont really know what he was supposed to do. Its not like the Secret Service would allow him to go over there and speak directly to a mob. I think its bullshite Trump tries to claim he ordered up NG but was rejected by Nancy too.

Im not defending Trump. But Desantis clearly said something that isn’t factual. And per my first post in response here, he has plenty of angles to attack Trump with.

No clue. He probably had a lot of info coming in and a lot of advisors talking to him. What is the point? What should he have done? What consequences do you think he should face for not doing what you suggest?

Also, were you ignorant to the content of his speech where he asked for peaceful protest or were you being intentionally deceptive.

what should he have done?

I'm pretty sure based on testimony Trump never called anyone from the DoD, DOJ, Capitol Police, Secret Service...

He did have some phone calls with lawyers and lawmakers.

So I would start there for things he should have done. Try to coordinate with agencies that fall under the Executive branch to help secure the Capitol building.

If we're being technical, Trump did tweet, so he did do something. But realistically given all of the options at his disposal, he didn't really do anything.

If you disagree that's fine but I don't think it's a lie or an unreasonable position to think that Trump didn't really do anything once the riot started.

How do tell the FEDS to stop their manufactured insurrection?

How do you tell the FEDS not to order the Capitol Police to take the magnetic locks off od the doors?

Probably working optics and try and determine who was running the insurrection.

Do you consider that “doing something” in the context Ron Desantis is referring to?

Even if so, you have to admit this is incredibly mild criticism.

I invite you to watch he said on Tapper.

Iirc some started while he was speaking, if anyone that thinks the people in the middle of doing what they were doing would have actually heard him telling them to stop is a fool. Trump would have had to gone into the crowd with a bullhorn to MAYBE get the momentum stopped.

The issue is not having his Guard request approved. Whomever did that is to blame.

He probably could've put an end to it 2 hours earlier.

No.

Here is where he referred to peaceful protest in his speech:

Because you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong. We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing and only count the electors who have been lawfully slated, lawfully slated.

I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.

He mentioned "fight" 20 times in that same speech, including:

And we fight. We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore.

Our exciting adventures and boldest endeavors have not yet begun. My fellow Americans, for our movement, for our children, and for our beloved country.

And I say this despite all that's happened. The best is yet to come.

So we're going to, we're going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue. I love Pennsylvania Avenue. And we're going to the Capitol, and we're going to try and give.

The Democrats are hopeless — they never vote for anything. Not even one vote. But we're going to try and give our Republicans, the weak ones because the strong ones don't need any of our help. We're going to try and give them the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country.

So let's walk down Pennsylvania Avenue.

But the WHOLE point is that he could have stopped the riot, and he didn't. He could have gone to the Capitol with the crowd he had just got all worked up, and protested peacefully.

But do you know what he didn't do after he said to the crowd, "we're going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue. I love Pennsylvania Avenue. And we're going to the Capitol"?

Walk down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol - because he was scared to.

What did I lie about?

It was Trump who lied when he said, "...we're going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue...And we're going to the Capitol"

Why didn't he go to the Capitol like he said he was?

He could've kept it from becoming a riot, but he didn't.
