i know the 2A people here will agree that this is a fantastic idea. the more guns, the safer we are.

quote:

A Michigan man running as a Libertarian for U.S. Senate says he wants to raise money to buy 20 pump style shotguns for homeless individuals.

"Not only are the homeless constantly under threat from would-be criminals," says Brian Ellison, "but they are also under threat from governments at various levels that criminalize activities that homeless people rely on for survival."

Ellison says he has no fears that the guns would be misused, for example, to shoot police who are trying to move people off an illegal encampment.

"I don't know why the homeless are viewed as such a different type of people as the rest of us," he says. "I carry a gun with me all the time, and I don't victimize anyone. I wouldn't expect that the homeless would use their weapons to fight off the police who are asking them to leave. I think the homeless would use their weapons to protect themselves from being victims of violent crimes."

Wrong.

Believing people have a right to keep and bear arms DOES NOT MEAN you believe everyone should have a weapon. People should have a right to buy one if they so please, but if people willingly do not buy one, that is no big deal.

Does the fact that you believe in the free exercise of religion mean you think EVERYONE should go to church?

We give people food when they can't afford it. We give them medical care when they can't afford it. We give people phones when they can't afford it.

Jus stahp.

And for the sake of your argument, if a homeless person can pass a background check and the law permits him to own a weapon in public, and it isnt a gun free zone, then yes, he should be allowed to own a gun per the Constitution.

I dont believe in bending it to fit a narrative.

Politicians on both sides of the aisle say crazier things than this on a regular basis. The Libertarian Party isn't relevant for the same reason all third parties aren't relevant: collusion between the political establishment and the mainstream media to black them out and obstacles at the state and federal level to prevent them from being in televised debates.

Silliness. Dude is an admitted attention whore.

It could be worse.

He could be assigned as a member of the House Armed Services Committee by one of the nation's two major parties despite being mentally challenged and be allowed to continue a line of questioning of a friggn Navy Admiral that posits that there's a concern that Guam might tip over.

Too much logic and common sense. Will not get the respect and appreciation it deserves.

"i know the 2A people here will agree that this is a fantastic idea. the more guns, the safer we are."

Let me try to explain:
This is actually the exact opposite of what we would like to occur. To understand us, you must understand this one critical piece of information...We DO NOT want the government in control of anything. We, the people, want to be in control of it. All of it.
There ya go!
