When I lived in Orange County, CA 35 years ago for two years, the California conservatives were to the left of LA Democrats. They sound great but in practice are envirowhackos.
Dafuq? Coastal Orange County is one of the most conservative areas in the whole country. I lived in Huntington Beach most of the time I was out there, with a couple years in San Clemente. I moved to Orange County from Alabama… and I was shocked at how conservative it was. Most of my long time friends out there are easily as conservative as anyone from the Deep South I know. Huntington Beach has the largest 4th of July celebration west of the Mississippi River. The overwhelming majority of them are not Democrats. The libs in L.A. County hate Orange County and have for decades because of its conservatism.

The policy I’m concerned with is hardly the only whacked out liberal policy they’re trying to enact either.

I lived on the East Side (The Green Side) of Sandia Mountain a few years back, for about a year. Still have some land I bought there. It was much more conservative over there than ABQ proper. But it was only 40 minutes from Santa Fe. And Santa Fe is basically SF as far as the type of people. Old rich lefty libs with bleeding hearts and savior complexes. Beautiful place though… Northern New Mexico is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I love it.

Colorado is already ruined. When’s the last time you visited?
ETA:
Idaho is next, imo.

People leave CO because they can't afford it. The cost of living sucks if you have to work and pay taxes on everything. Its simply a retirement state. Having moved here from TX and retired, its cheap in comparison because I don't buy anything besides food and gas and retiring with the property tax rate in TX is killer. 5 years ago, I was paying $11k a year (and going up the max every year) on .2 acres around ATX. Five acre home in the hills outside of COS is abouy $2.5k a year. Retiring in TX didn't make sense financially.
Sad thing is, the ones moving typically are hard working and conservative value types. At the end of the day, Soros dumped 100's of millions to turn the state blue and people are ignorant about who they vote for. They let the media mention a name over and over and thats good enough. Still a bastion of conservatives here. Denver needs a nuking though.

Next?...they've already ruined it. Imo Missouri is the one that is in the hopper for ruination by the lefties.

this i agree with. i'd be hard pressed to buy the starter home i bought in 2002. it came up on the mls last summer and was almost 5x what i paid for it then.

aurora isn't denver
i wouldn't go there either. it has dangerous spots for sure, but mostly i wouldn't go because it's a soulless, suburban shithole

Frankly, Colorado’s cost of living is out of balance with local salaries. Affordability is the biggest issue since the state doesn’t have a very large corporate presence and comp is mostly on par with your average Midwest MCOL city.
Plus wildfire risk and subsequent home insurance is also a problem in many areas. Still a tremendously beautiful state except for the 1/3 easternmost portion.
I’m sure Boulder and the like are kooky with Byzantine city ordinances, etc but it’s a large state and still in demand. I think it’s just cooled off after a boom in the 2010s.

I lived in Seal Beach back then, most everyone I knew lived in Huntington Beach. They were all about Save the Whales mentality except one whose family had been there for 5 generations. They got rid of city workers for streets and infrastructure to hire contractors with illegals as labor to save money. The area was beginning to be overrun but urbanites from back east by already. They don't even elect libertarian minded Republicans any longer.

Make a pit stop in Aurora if you’re feeling brave enough.
