Why do we think this topic has elicited such an… enthusiastic public response? Is it just the Trump factor? Or people learning that medical literature is accessible to the public? Or is it because of autism? I’m curious what others think.

I can only speak for myself, but I enjoy these threads to either 1) laugh at people who think they know but actually have no clue and arent’t willing to be informed or 2) actually discuss these medical/scientific matters with reasonable posters willing to have this level of dialogue. The latter applies to a handful. The former is the vast majority

I point out the truth and you think I'm triggered?

When someone uses >4 synonymous adjectives to describe a poster…they are either triggered by that poster or infatuated by them, depending on the specific adjectives. Just take a deep breath and avoid this site for a few days if it makes you this upset

I guess technically everything is “a research project away” then

Exactly. Like "doctors" acting like there's no correlation when studies show there is

It's a good question. probably multiple things - autism is a cultural flashpoint surrounding different moral panics, post-COVID suspicion of medical authority, Trump & RFK Jr. are lightning rods, there are epistemic authority vs. democratization issues you mention (authorities are distrusted & lots want to DYOR), the press conference was such a spectacle, and probably a half dozen or more other reasons. curious to hear what others think.

The fact that you think you matter is quite funny. If that 's what it takes to help you make it thru the day, more power to ya.

You've proven repeatedly that your emotional immaturity gets in the way of whatever you learned in med school. Not answering questions is a sure sign of that

Except that the correlation disappeared when confounding variables were controlled and they were sibling controls. That is the conflicting research that they magically left out yesterday.

Well, let your pregnant wife eat a bunch of Tylenol then.

Ok you are definitely a teenager. “You don’t even matter!” is definitely a prepubescent insult if I’ve ever heard of one.

We all matter, buddy

Wow. Grind has the emotional maturity of a 5 year old and won't answer the simplest questions. Why is that?

No one was gatekeeping the knowledge. It was public. Scratch that. The knowledge that was gatekept during the press conference was the conflicting more recent and more rigorous research that showed no association.

Ahhh “your side.” I’m not white man who hunts or owns guns so it’s funny that you want to align him with me.

I have too many kids with too many activities, navigating an enormous crises at work and I’m putting my 16 year old pup down Monday. I haven’t had lots of extra bandwidth to fight with strangers on the internet

Let’s be very clear: I don’t answer your questions bc I don’t respect you as a poster enough to try to have intelligent discourse with you. That’s the beautiful thing about message boards; you can choose who to debate with. Freedom!

Your obsession with me is kind of weird. Not sure how many times I have to ignore you before you take a hint and move on
