What's my slip?
We have a few opinions in this thread.
1- we did not have anything to do with the Coup.
2- Russia was the one that did the coup and the people naturally rejected that.
3- we did partake in the coup and we did it for:
- money
- resources..
Etc...

The Russians installed their Putin puppet. The puppet wasn’t doing what Ukrainians wanted to do and instead did what Putin wanted them to do. Ukrainians didn’t like that, they revolted, Yanukovych flees, and Ukraine starts growing closer ties with the West.
Was the US involved in this? That’s tough to say. I’m sure they were involved in some way. Some will say the US had people there leading the charge, some will say differently. Personally I think the US could have gave tips, information, and strategy, but I don’t think the US was involved in overthrowing the Ukrainian government. I think Putin would have taken that out on us directly instead of Ukraine.
But maybe we did lead a coup in Ukraine and maybe that’s why Putin “interfered” with the 2016 election. Maybe that’s how he directly hit us back. There are definitely a lot of fishy things that have happened that involve the US/Russia over the last 10-15 years though. It’s a deep rabbit hole.

Ukraine was an economic disaster under pro-Western Ukrainian president. Their economy tanked. Yanukovich got elected fair and square but refused to go into bed with EU under pressure from Russia.
Yanukovich was saving Ukraine from becoming Syria/Iraq and not letting nationalists have their way.
