No one seems to acknowledge this fact. They just act like people will be rioting to get back to work. A lot of people are not going to be that way

The thing is, there is gonna be a time limit. The money will run out, also it's not like people can just quit their job and claim unemployment.

Also do note if you were furloughed or laid off and your job comes back they will give you your job/pay back and report that to the state. You can not voluntarily say no and just stay on unemployment.

Especially if your employer takes out the ppp loan.

Unemployment compensation is taxable income federally. Most states tax it as well, including Louisiana.

This coupled with them emptying the prisons will not be good for LA.

It’s more than that. In Louisiana it’s 247 + 600. Many people will sit on their asses for that.

Bingo.

$847 a week to sit tight and drink beer will go a long way.

If I understand it correctly, yes it is retroactive before the actual date of the bill.

Edit..Well, maybe not. Heck if I know.

Might not be helpful information because I really don't know about Louisiana, but Oklahoma unemployment allows you the opportunity to choose whether or not to have taxes deducted from unemployment pay.

It equates to a $44K a year salary for unemployment

A lot of states have $600 a week u.c.
Before the interstate claims law changed sometime around '06 or 07, all you had to do was work in 2 states to draw it.
When I was working seasonal, I drew from Massachusetts usually, or Pa.

Pretty sure the $600 is a max amount depending on how much you normally make. I don’t think you’ll be making $800+ a week if you did not before.

Nobody’s gonna work. Grocery stores will close! Socialism will soon be taught to the hungry masses. Why work?

It’s more then that. It’s like $850/week. Tons of people will sit home during prime summertime for that.

Doesn't the unemployment agency average your hourly or salary pay and come up with a weekly figure? Someone making $960 a week could be mighty happy sitting home on $1500 a week.

This is what Graham was arguing. People would beg to get fired. But it will only be for a few months max so good for them; but it will take longer for that hospital to get an HVAC-R commercial repair.

I would suspect anyone making less than that prior to the shutdown will stay out as long as possible.

And that's in addition to the state weekly benefit.
