What am I missing? $20/lb for beef tenderloin seems in line with pricing from last year

When was the last time you saw $152 price tag on meat?

2 thin cut steaks were $45.

Boneless skinless chicken breast was over $20 for a small pack.

Why are we discussing the total price tag and not the per pound price?

On a 7.5 lb tenderloin. Pretty regular. Stores around me have had $20 lb tenderloin for several years. But yea meat is getting high no doubt but tenderloin has always been high.

Eat you some vegetables. Maybe you'll delay that heart attack by a few months.

Be prepared guys. It’s irresponsible not to. The cities are about to implode.

Major cities can go for about 3 days without supply before it gets real painful.

It was $29.99/lbs. in the store here (South MS) today.
And some feeder delivered it to the packer for a price on the rail of $2.10.

You don't have to buy it at that price.

You mean just like you don't have to follow Trump on Twitter, or listen to Infowars, or buy Aunt Jemima syrup? Like that?

Ranchers launch effort to build own meat plants to fight against low beef prices

"Like other ranchers across the country, Rusty Kemp for years grumbled about rock-bottom prices paid for the cattle he raised in central Nebraska, even as the cost of beef at grocery stores kept climbing.

He and his neighbors blamed it on consolidation in the beef industry stretching back to the 1970s that resulted in four companies slaughtering over 80% of the nation’s cattle, giving the processors more power to set prices while ranchers struggled to make a living. Federal data show that for every dollar spent on food, the share that went to ranchers and farmers dropped from 35 cents in the 1970s to 14 cents recently.

There was a campus bar at GT that had 10 cent wings and $1 Molson in the bottle every Tuesday night in the mid 80s. They weren't the giant wings you get today but it was still a helluva deal.

I think it's the processing part that's the hangup. It's tough to find boneless thighs around here. Bone-in stuff isn't plentiful but nowhere near as scarce as the parts that require a dude with a knife.
