Again, we don’t have to become an occupying force. We can supply food, water, shelter and medicine if we choose to. The UN could (I am not a fan of the UN as a general rule) be a force for good here,

We should definitely not be bankrupting ourselves to support people who harbor terrorists and provide very little direct benefit to the U.S. It's not our job to keep the country afloat. We would not tolerate this behavior from an outside force. Why should they?

If the Afghanis want U.N. aid, they should request it. I'm not really sold on the U.N. helping given their track record, but that's their problem, not ours. So once again, I'm not sure why that's our concern.

Not sure how that's relevant to the discussion, but I don't disagree. Doesn't mean I'm going to take the opposing position just to prove him wrong. I wanted out of Afghanistan. It's a government boondoggle and only aided the growth of the state.

Maybe they should try growing some damn food crops instead.

It’s not the fricking Mississippi delta, dude. It’s the harshest landscape for growing crops outside of Antarctica. Afghanistan is notoriously difficult for growing crops.

That sounds terrible. Maybe next time a republican is elected president you can get him to take over that country and make the feeding of Afghan children your top priority. They are always so grateful for outside help.

You letting any stay at your house?

You liberals are absolute trash humans. Your lord and emperor completely fricked that country.

I thought the left loved the poor and crusaded on behalf of the weak and vulnerable??? Seems as soon as it’s politically expedient we’re supposed to pretend these problems on the other side of the globe don’t exist?!? Where is your compassion now??

Both sides are hypocrites. Biden is responsible for the horrendous withdrawal and any American/PTO-America Afgan deaths. This is sickening and terrible, but unfortunately was going to happen because the Taliban has no idea how to run a government.

How much of the usable landscape do they plant in opium?

Is my point of planting that area in crops that people can eat instead not valid?

Whether a Republican or democrat is president, I'm not going to feel bad that a country that largely hates our guts and cheered the Twin Towers falling isn't doing well.

Opium can grow pretty much anywhere, dude. You are clearly extremely ignorant on Afghanistan’s uniquely hostile geography. There’s a reason it’s called “The Graveyard of Empires” and it’s largely because the geography and weather are uniquely hostile.

I'm certainly not schooled on Afghanistan.

In reality, I don't give a crap about it. Plant the whole of it in opium...trade it to China for food. I'm not going to get on the pity train for a country that would just as soon see me conquered or dead.

Leave them to themselves, I'm sure it will work out just fine.

Totally heartbreaking, poor kids

Now I’ll say something that’s probably ignorant as I’ve never been to Afghanistan

the US has imported thousands of afghanis since the taliban takeover

they look to be mostly young males … are they on the dole?

Why don’t they man-up, return home, and build their society into one where children can complain about school cafeteria food instead of starving to death?

What happens in Afghanistan is not the concern of the American taxpayer. And none of our soldiers should be over there policing a medieval people who live in an 8th century theocracy. We are almost $30 trillion in debt as is.
