do you think Princess Tiana or Pocahontas would ever be played by a white girl?

No, they never would, but race is integral to both of those characters. Ariel being white has nothing to do with her character or story. I'm not a fan of recasting established literary characters but it really doesn't make a difference here.

Shes been cast the lead in Disney's "malcolm x" on ice.

I retract my previous post. I am going to organize a riot until this happens.

If you have a daughter you'd be one too.

By the way, you'd have made a great Ariel

Maybe this is something you and your friends dabble in, considering how concerned you are with the casting.

I don’t really care who is chosen to play a fictional character. Ariel wasn’t real, in case you didn’t know.

If you want more black actors then create more Disney stories with blacks. But to take a cartoon that already has a character with an established look and change it? Doesn’t make sense.

Bet you hated the original Magnificent 7.

The original was an Asian story no?

"The Little Mermaid" is a fairy tale written by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. The story follows the journey of a young mermaid who is willing to give up her life in the sea and her identity as a mermaid to gain a human soul.

Someone was complaining about lazy live action remakes, but this cartoon itself is just a remake, too. I better not find out Lion King wasn't original.

So she won’t have red hair?

My favorite princess of all time is
Jasmine.

Beautiful dark eyes and skin.
I can’t imagine her being white with blond hair and blue eyes.

This is based on swing the movies, live shows, and characters at DisneyWorld.

Stop projecting man...you can keep that to your Ariel friends over tea, while getting bitchy over the casting.
