Let’s consolidate this in one thread.
In your opposition to tariffs, thus reducing revenue, you ARE for the democrats surrendering their request for trillions more in spending and voting for their own CR passed during the Biden era to reopen the government.
Correct?
My my my my my… all the downvotes with a severe lack of response.
If you have extreme difficulty in answering and justifying it….. maaaaaaaybe it’s time to reevaluate your stance. Hmmmm?

As someone who strongly opposed disastrous unfettered free trade deals with China, Mexico and other low-wage countries, I understand that we need trade policies that benefit American workers, not just large corporations. Targeted tariffs can be a powerful tool to stop corporations from outsourcing American jobs. They can help level the playing field for American autoworkers or steelworkers to compete fairly against companies who have moved production to countries where they can pay starvation wages.
Bernie Sanders.

You are absolutely free to answer. Cmon. You can do it.
And this response when democrats are wanting to reduce revenue and dump on more debt.
Cmon fiscal hawks! Yea or nay?

Has it really? All approximately 40 trillion? That’s the sole driver?

Are we 40tril in debt? Have any "conservatives" done anything to stop it?
All they do is cry about it like Roger

Opposition to tariffs is not really a “leftist” position.
Some folks automatically tag any opposition to Trump with the term “leftist”, and that’s not the case at all…

You still with this same supposedly “gotcha” shite… Congress should not bail Trump out for making a mess of this situation

Well we do have a government shutdown right now to prevent democrats from trying to spend trillions that was just cut earlier this year by conservatives. They want more debt and then want to blame the president for it. And the lemmings will regurgitate that claim.
That’s a plus. Isn’t it?

Well we will count that as a dodge. If you cannot answer and defend the actual OP question… it’s time for some reflection isn’t it?

You are counted as a no. Right? As in we should eliminate tariffs and revenue.. and increase spending by trillions. All by holding the government hostage.
And what mess Trump created? He didn’t decide to force policy by government shutdown. Right? The current CR was voted Yea on by democrats 13 times before. Right?
So what mess Trump created?

I’d prefer they take it out of the $5T in corp tax cuts they just passed vs taking away benefits from lower income American people

You realize Scott Bessent said yesterday tariffs were not intended for revenue generation or replacing income taxes, right? Is he a "leftist"?

Asked about comments by Trump and himself touting the amount of revenue being generated, Bessent told reporters the duties being collected were "coincident" and amounted to a "shrinking ice cube" that would generate less tax income over time.
As that happened, however, increased domestic manufacturing spurred by higher import costs would generate more revenue from income tax, resulting in a balanced result, he said.

Leftists love taxes yet hate tariffs. I wonder if that’s because OMB?

You're asking a guy who everyone here knows is the biggest sycophantic clown on the board to do some critical thinking.
Next you'll be asking him whether the problems he's citing were the result of actual conservative policies or politicians who called themselves conservative NOT following conservative policies.
And that level of differentiation will cause his tiny brain to explode.
You beter stop before it's too late.

Does it generate revenue or not. Enough of the faux intellectual drivel. Does it produce government revenue or not? Yes. No. Two choices.
And feel free to answer the OP question without some random dissertation. Short and simple.
