Debates should be mandatory.
Yes, this would be very helpful. This is what a could get ChatGPT to summarize for me. Would love to hear them actually discuss these in a debate.
What the differences mean in practice
- Abortion: Letlow supports an anti-abortion agenda, while Davis supports restoring federal abortion protections.
- Data centers and carbon capture: Letlow is more open to industrial development with safeguards; Davis favors tighter restrictions on projects, eminent domain, and corporate subsidies.
- NDAs and transparency: Davis explicitly opposes secret government agreements with private companies; Letlow’s signing of an NDA related to Meta’s proposed data center has raised transparency concerns.
- Tax policy: Davis wants to reverse portions of the 2025 tax law that he believes disproportionately benefit billionaires and corporations; Letlow generally supports the Republican tax agenda.
- Congressional stock trading: Letlow has faced scrutiny over hundreds of late-reported stock transactions; her office blamed her financial adviser. Late disclosures raise accountability concerns but do not, by themselves, prove insider trading. Davis has no congressional trading record, and I haven’t verified either candidate’s position on a comprehensive trading ban.
- Farmers and farm subsidies: Both support crop insurance and disaster aid, but Davis emphasizes production-cost-based farm payments, lowering fertilizer and diesel costs, and protecting farmers from retaliatory tariffs and corporate consolidation. Letlow emphasizes a strong Farm Bill, disaster assistance, agricultural research, rural credit, and protecting family farms.
- Energy and oil-and-gas jobs (Louisiana-specific): Letlow strongly supports expanding offshore drilling, LNG exports, and oil-and-gas production to protect Louisiana energy jobs. Davis emphasizes energy costs and opposes carbon-capture pipelines that can take private land through eminent domain, creating a sharper contrast over how industrial development should proceed.

I am voting for the male candidate - republican women have been a pretty big flop recently.

She's going to be the most swampy Senator who won't truly give a damn about Louisiana

She's in the lead. There's no benefit to her doing anything more.

TBH Jamie Davis seems like a very decent man. Reminds me of southern democrats of years past.

Agreed. Its funny because the alternate universe is not too far away from our current one where Jamie Davis keeps all his same political positions but just runs as an (R) and then becomes the runaway favorite.

There is never a reason to vote for a (D). Unless you support Communism
I voted for Cassidy last time for this very seat based on the above reasoning.
That regret aside, as a Fleming voter in the primary, I was somewhat heartened to hear Letlow say that while she does support the carbon capture grift (my take), she does not support the government using eminent domain on behalf of it.

Eminent domain is a deal breaker issue for me and if there is any evidence that she is actually for it, I would certainly appreciate someone posting about it.
