Depends on the audience. Some audiences display the ability to detect and properly factor in nuance, context, tone and tenor etc, so as to instill confidence in electing to utilize as you mentioned “brevity.”
Other audiences, however (or perhaps just specific elements within the audience), some can be tantamount to conversing with children, due to an obvious lack of the characteristics and qualities described herein above. There’s no better example of such a scenario than this exact moment right now. Those instances, unfortunately for the many, necessitate spelling it out letter for letter, word for word, for the benefit of the few. And even that doesn’t help sometimes.

A lot of people were on the Desantis bandwagon before it became obvious that he and his team were a complete shitshow. I really liked Desantis up until a few months ago. Some people are just a little slower getting off that rickety cart.
At least Gaines isn't one of the creepy Desantis supporters who scream that they'll not vote Republican in the general if Desantis isn't the nominee.
