Liberals secretly hoped for this for all of BO's presidency. Now repubs are. I'll believe it when it happens. Nothing seems to kill that lady.

Kennedy retiring?

The rumor going around the D.C. legal community is that the Gorsuch pick was made for Kennedy. If his clerk was chosen, he would step down sometime shortly after confirmation and the President would get another pick.

When Trump checks out in 2025, Ginsburg will be 91.

If any moderate or conservative judge retires Trump should replace them with a conservative. If RBG dies or retires I think he should nominate Garland. Just because he is a moderate and Dems would have to confirm him.

I'm surprised RBG is still alive. She has put some sweet moves on the Grim Reaper.

During the next four years, the new president will likely nominate not only Scalia’s replacement but also an additional 3 new justices. Since 1971, the average age of retirement for a Supreme Court justice has been just under 79 years. Ginsburg is 83, Kennedy is 80, and Breyer will be 78 in mid-August.

The new justices will set the direction of the Supreme Court and the values that guide it for the next generation. Scalia, after all, was on the court for 30 years before he died. Thomas has been on the court for 25 years and is still only 68.

I would imagine that Ginsburg will stay until she dies.
