Laundry list of things we are seeing (and have just accepted)

A virus declared to have unprecedented transmissibility and lethality, even though the data to confirm this is either untrustworthy (China) or simply not fully fleshed out. It is clearly potent, but not exactly World War Z.
In the name of this virus, we have seen:
1. International travel bans (usually bilateral)
2. Domestic shutdowns in largest population centers
3. Curfews
4. Municipalities and counties declaring emergency powers to restrict liquor sales, gun sales, gas stations, and various other commerce.
5. Bans on gatherings of more than 10 people
6. Businesses being implicitly closed down by these bans, with some of them literally boarding up the windows.
7. DOJ asking for indefinite detention
8. Increasing/escalating declarations that crimes will not be prosecuted
9. Existing prisoners being freed
10. Calls to restrict internet bandwidth
11. FMLA and paid sick leave legislation (with no sunset) that would have been non-starters a month ago.
12. Relief legislation that has 12 zeros in the number, with mind-bogglingly blunt impact (i.e., "helicopter money")
13. Broad swaths of the economy summarily shut down to a point where a roaring economy could contract by 10% or more in a matter of weeks.
Things I can imagine or extrapolate from the above:
1. Currency controls
2. Stock market closings (without the triggers we have already seen)
3. City and/or state quarantines
4. Mandatory vaccinations
5. Continued hoarding and lack of supply of certain commodities
6. Outright gun bans, either on sales or even up to confiscation
Call me a conspiracy theorist all you want, but this is all accumulating faster than I would have ever imagined, and it seems like we have accepted it all as necessary or inevitable.
This is party-agnostic. As I think more about it, I am shocked Mitch let the legislation get past the Senate.
It seems like we have become blind or numb to the steps being taken, all in the name of a bad (but not "plague-like") contagion.

I don't mind these measures as a temporary method to keep the hospitals from being overwhelmed, but I do worry that once this is all over, the massive expansion of government (both regarding these public health "ordinances" and the huge intervention in the economy) will linger.
There is nothing as immortal as a government program. We STILL have various laws and policies that were crafted during the new deal, which were meant to be temporary.

This x100. Just stay home. Everyone stay home. The sooner everyone gets on board with this the sooner we can get back to work. It’s really simple.

They can't do a gun ban. Especially right now. Everyone's already on a hair trigger. They do that and it's going to go off.

You are right. This is medical martial law. Government has too much power and people here don’t see that or they are conditioned to accept that all government is good. If this keeps up for much longer, economic disaster will occur and there will be no jobs to go back to.

Bookmarked...in a good way.
Thanks for putting this out in such a succinct manner.

Where and what kind of restrictions have been imposed on gun sales?

If you were a healthcare worker in direct patient contact with confirmed Chinese Virus patients and running short on Mask and gowns you would want help from the government too buddy.

Try doubling or tripling that figure.

Nothing as of yet that I am aware. But, the mayor of NO and Champaign, IL gave themselves the power to implement them in their emergency declarations. They also gave themselves the power to take personal property. They promise they won't use them, though, so we have nothing to worry about.

Within 6 months of the emergency being declared over, our benevolent overlords will pass some sort of "Pandemic Emergency Powers Act", which will allow the government to do everything you listed and more!
I say we call it "Kung Flu Patriots Act!

I didn't say they had banned the sales. I said they had declared the right to. A few examples:
Fresno's Emergency Declaration allows halt to gun sales, alcohol sales, other broad powers
Illinois municipal leaders seek emergency powers for gas, gun sales bans and curfews amid pandemic
New Orleans mayor signs emergency orders that can restrict sale, transportation of firearms and alcohol

Just among the people posting here they seem to be getting more and more angry.
We might just get to see how fragile the social contract is if this doesn't let up in a few weeks.
