The correct answer is Ukraine is paying the supreme price, but not as much monetarily.
The US and Europe are paying too, monetarily.
So is Russia via confiscated assets and they are also paying dearly in blood.

How big of a melt will we see on Aug. 8 by you and the Ukrainian JB Cope if Trump doesn't issue 100% tarrifs/sanctions?
Melt? I will be surprised if he does, pleasantly surprised. I’m definitely not counting on it.

The Gulf suppliers are fixin to eat. These Indian refiners have been a pain for decades now and have bypassed everyone for the cheap Urals. So there will be little mercy and no credit.

Indian state refiners have stopped buying Russian oil in the past week as discounts narrowed this month and U.S. President Donald Trump warned against purchasing oil from Moscow, industry sources said.

Cope linked it the other day.

Cope is building himself up into a frenzy and hope like he did with Taurus.
He is going to go postal if it doesn't happen.

Sanctions continue to curtail Russia's energy industry and war funding.

This comes as shipowners and traders increasingly avoid the company. Indian refineries are also reducing Russian oil imports and actively seeking alternatives.
India hasn't fully abandoned Russian crude yet—but the shift is clear.

Global markets are steadily pulling back from Russian energy. And with that comes a deeper cut into the Kremlin’s war budget.

I think people forget how big the Russian military was before the war with an active force of around 1 million troops and a reserve of around 2 million. Even if the highest casualty rates are real which is around 1 million since the start of the war that still leaves around 2 million pre war personnel in the military
Not well trained before 2022, even active duty. When Russia was a partner with NATO, US observers called their maneuvers a total cluster phuck. Equipment broke down or didn't work, troops had no clue what to do. Ukrainian units, mostly reserves had training from US at least before 2020. Ukrainian units had actually seen action with US military in Middle East, just like several NATO partners. I don't know if they had pork eater arm patches like the Polish troops did.

If tweet fails to load, click here. That's a 1378% increase in one year but include the Gerbera drones, which don't carry warheads. The cheaply made Gerbera drones are decoys mainly designed to clear a path through the Ukrainian air defenses.
The Yelabuga drone manufacturing facility is 1600km from Ukraine's border. The Germans have been working with the Ukrainians on producing such a missile and when they finish, Yelabuga will be the first one to find out. Remember, last May German Chancellor Merz said, "There will be no range restrictions."

Damn, billions in funding and weapons from the US and NATO partners, trained by the US, still losing. Kind of wild. Ukraine might actually be the side underperforming here.

What did Mertz say about Taurus? I remember what you said:

Wasn't that it?

To say that Russian ground forces weren't well trained before 2022 seems a little crazy. Russia has always put everything into it's ground troops. Pilots and naval forces yea they might not have been well trained but the ground troops were.

I think you'd have trouble gaining even the modest amount of ground they have been gaining if the troops weren't at least fairly well trained, considering how dug in the lines are and drone warfare completely changing the game.
Russia is inept in a multitude of ways, but I think people are discounting the fact that war between two powerful militaries probably looks about like what we are seeing now with drone warfare being such a big part of it. Its Neo-WW1 warfare with drones occupying some of the operational space that once belonged to artillery and machine gun batteries.
