That suggests the U.S. will get sick of being involved in Iran (which has pretty much happened, already) before an invasion and attempted occupation even happen, not that collective West will get tired of helping Ukraine fight a Russian invasion.

Russia is the equivalent of the US in the Afghnistan comparison, which helped topple the Soviet Union when it was actually Russia occupying that country

Another Wildberries taken off the map. This is the first one in a while to completely go up in smoke. Recently, Wildberries has had more success in containing those fires and putting them out. Not this time.

NATO says drone shot down in Romania appears to be Russian

US Colonel Martin O'Donnell, a spokesperson for the Headquarters of the Supreme Allied Powers Europe, has said the drone shot down in Romania on the night of 15-16 August appears to be Russian.

Details: Commenting on the drone being shot down over Romania by a Spanish fighter jet, O'Donnell said the Alliance is constantly vigilant and prepared to defend itself against any threat.

"Additional details regarding Sunday's incident remain under investigation, but the drone appears to be Russian," the NATO spokesperson said.

The Romanian Ministry of Defence did not specify the drone's origin, saying radar had detected it entering the south-eastern part of the country from neighbouring Moldova, 24 km (15 miles) north of the city of Galai.

Romania, which shares a 614 km (382-mile) land border with Ukraine, has reported repeated violations of its airspace by Russian drones over the past four years, as well as floating mines in the Black Sea along key trade and energy routes.

Background: On the night of 15-16 August, an F-18 fighter jet from the Spanish Air and Space Force, which was patrolling Romanian airspace, shot down an unidentified drone that had violated the country's airspace.

Wow! That is a brave officer. I'd would have gotten my truck stuck in the field during the turn-around.

The more I think about the Wildberries situation, the more skeptical I am that they can pretend to stay in business after this— no matter how much money they get from the Russian government. All three of their Moscow warehouses have now been completely destroyed. If WB can't deliver in Moscow, how can it be a functioning service??

EDIT: I asked Gemini if WB will survive, and it says that they will, simply by forcing more costs onto sellers, using Russia Post more for longer range deliveries, and by increasingly decentralizing operations and storage, so that there are fewer high-value targets to take out.

But decentralizing defeats the whole point point of companies like wildberries,. It wrecks the economies of scale and imposes much higher costs for labor and shipping. And passing increased risk and cost onto sellers just means that those sellers will raise their prices.

So the real endgame here is not, by itself, trying to put WB out of business. Rather, it's to escalate the already high inflationary pressure on the Russian economy, which then forces the central bank to raise interest rates to try to keep the inflation under control.
