Russia only beat Germany in WW2 because Uncle Sam came to its rescue.

In this war, Russia doesn't have its daddy to rely on to help it beat big, mean Ukraine.

Because Russia's use of penal battalions is well documented. They absolutely use expendable infantry tactics, that's basically how they won WW2. That and artillery.
Right, and American trucks, American jeeps, American locomotives, American railcars, American tanks, American aircraft, American tractors, American aviation fuel, American petroleum, American aluminum and copper, American tires, American machine tools, American uniforms, American boots, American blankets, and 4.5 million tons of American food.

The Soviets received over 400,000 wheeled vehicles, 14,000 aircraft, 13,000 tanks, almost 2,000 locomotives, 11,000 railcars, 8,000 tractors, and 2.7 million tons of petroleum products. Even Katyusha rocket launchers rode into battle on American Studebaker trucks.

So yes: penal battalions, expendable infantry, artillery, and an American-built and powered logistics system powering the whole operation.

You have our totally sincere admiration and we swear we're not rolling our eyes when we say that..

None of that refutes my point and neither does "but Ukraine (excuse me, "ukro") is worse."

It doesn't change the fact that without help, the USSR would not have defeated Germany, and even with China's help, Russia still can't beat Ukraine.

What does that say about the mighty Russian chipmunk?

Today, Russia's closest ally, Belarus, is pulling back support and turning off comms equipment Russia needs to guide drones into Ukraine. NO ONE, not even its vassal states, is scared of Russia anymore.

Why do you think I care? US was helping both Britain and USSR stay afloat during WW2. German war machine they built over a decade in relative secrecy and their use of slave labor enabled them to get a huge head start on all allies.

US in 1941 was a vastly different nation than it is today. This country is no longer what it was and probably will never get back to what it was. "Winning" WW2 really wasn't kind to us in the long run.
You cared enough to cite penal battalions, expendable infantry, and artillery when you thought it made Russia look formidable. The moment American trucks, locomotives, fuel, food, aircraft, and industrial support enter the picture, suddenly you “don’t care.” Convenient.

And no shite America is different from 1941. The entire world is different. That is the fricking point. The Soviet Union pushed the Wehrmacht a thousand miles back to Berlin in under four years. Modern Russia has spent more than four years grinding forward a few hundred miles against a vastly weaker opponent. Whatever the USSR was, today’s Russia is a degraded imitation living off inherited mythology and nuclear weapons.

Also, the sudden flood of “we,” “us,” and “this country” is not fooling anyone. Watching you consciously sprinkle American pronouns into translated English is funnier than the propaganda.

I seemed to have touched the nerve. Maybe the possibility of being thrown out a window isn't as metaphorical as I thought.

Small dry cargo vessel but it's loaded, so either grain or fertilizer for (intended) export to Black Sea or Eastern Med port.

Maybe so, but you notably didn't disagree it applies 1x to Russia.

He never referred to the meat waves mentioned or how Russian military doctrine is crap which was also mentioned. I posted the video because it gives a more balanced description and that Putain must find a way to declare victory or he will become worm dirt.

A Lt. Col from Lake Charles met the Russians in Germany and they were all driving Sherman tanks NOT T-34s. They much preferred the Sherman tank as well. T-34 wasn't reliable and lasted about 200 miles before being inoperable.

Yeah, but the Russians are returning more bodies to Ukraine! bro, don't you understand the ramifications?

The ramifications are that if Russia puts more troops into Crimea, it just compounds their problems of supplying them.

Russia's main problems right now are the Ukrainian long-range drones destroying their refineries, and the mid-range drones destroying their logistics. Neither of these problems is fixed by a mobilization.

We have squandered the global lead we gave ourselves/were given after WW2 a bit, but saying winning wasn't kind to us a huge stretch and that's putting it kindly.

This and other posts are entertaining as ever. Germany’s head start had nothing to do with slave labor and very little to do with equipment. France had better tanks than Germany did. Russia’s tank park was massive by comparison. Where Germany beat the Allies was in a revolution of military doctrine and tactics. They successfully took the lessons from WW1 and created a combined arms doctrine that only a few Allied leaders were talking about. Mobile warfare combining tanks, artillery, infantry and air support, tied together with superb communications and low level initiative. That is what caught the Allies flat footed.

As for the USSR, Stalin set fire to his officer corps and refused to acknowledge the warning signs when it was clear Germany was about to break their neutrality pact. After tens of millions of lives lost along with loads of equipment, they finally got their legs under them operationally with no small part of that attributed to US lend lease as someone mentioned.

Know your history dude if you’re going to talk about it.

The night is off to a good start. That's 14 more vessels hit in the Sea of Azov already. How many does it take until Russia decides that this isn't a good idea anymore?

Ukraine who welcomed Nazis.

In that time and context and given Stalin's liquidation of peasant land owners of Ukraine and then starving a few million to death, such a choice was not without bloody history.

Ukraine still has not forgotten Stalin's and Moscow's evil deeds. It is still in the living memories of families.

Better tanks and more of them to as I recall. The difference was that France distributed their tank forces among infantry in more of a support role, while the German generals concentrated theirs and punched through the French lines creating havoc in the rear.

That's the trillion dollar question whether you're talking ships, refineries, or whatever else Ukraine is hitting.

Ukriane continues to find new ways to punish Russia, and Russia keeps absorbing the hits and has barely pretended to be interested in negotiations (barely with Trump, not at all with anyone else).

Over the past 6 days, Ukraine has damaged or destroyed 76 ships in the Sea of Azov. Most of them are oil tankers or tugboats. Just tonight alone, 28 ships were attacked, as shown in this footage.

This is destruction and humiliation without precedent. A crushing defeat unlike anything Russia has experienced since the Battle of Tsushima. And this time, it was Ukraine's kamikaze drones that brought it about.
