Just like we are NOT leaving NATO. So much equipment and supplies prepositioned there that we would have to leave there or send a lot of ships to carry back. We would be cutting our own nuts off and a HUGE cost.

Damn, right in the engine room. That's going to be some serious dry dock time.
This was a Sea Baby drone. With that range, tankers heading to Novorossiysk will have to hug the Turkish shore, and even that may not help.

How bad do you have to be to get fired for excessive casualties in the Russian general staff? I thought high casualties was seen as a mark of a real Russian general.

Another video of the drone strikes on the sanctioned Greek tankers. (Apologies for the redundancy.) This one was airborne and as we noticed a couple of weeks before, they are hitting the cargo transfer manifold racks on these tankers. That means shipyard work and 3-4 weeks down time, depending on replacement equipment availability.

Soon-to-be Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov laid out sweeping reform goals: eliminate Soviet-era bureaucracy, digitize the army, fight corruption, modernize training, audit draft offices, equip brigades with drones, and build Ukraine’s own air defense and smart artillery. He also pledged AI-powered threat prediction and strict accountability, those who fail will be out.
"It's impossible to fight with new technologies using an old organizational structure. Our goal is to carry out an army reform," he said.

... and strict accountability, those who fail will be out.
Well, let's see. I personally would not wait for failure. Fire two or three top managers with the most seniority and do it yesterday. That will send a message and cut waaay down on 'those who fail'.
This is the Way.

Sounds like a bunch of marketing labels.
4 years in and you're saying you still haven't fixed the "Soviet-era bureaucracy"? Your country is all hands on deck fighting an existential war, haven't had any elections, and your excuse for why things aren't going how you want is bureaucrats gumming up the process? I've got some Russian naval vessels in the black sea to sell them if they believe that.

The US seizing Russian tankers has caused major hesitation by others to purchase Russian oil. Loss of face in Venezuela and hopefully loss of face in Iran will weaken Russia even more
The noose is tightening around Putin's neck.

And this news just in from an alternate universe -

Kazakhstan is urging the U.S. and Europe to help secure oil shipments after drone strikes hit three tankers heading to the CPC terminal on Russia’s Black Sea coast, Reuters reports.
"The increasing frequency of such incidents highlights the growing risks to the functioning of international energy infrastructure," the ministry said in a statement.

Here we go again. The Dynamic Duo are back for another big helping of fail. The only question now is how do the Russians manage to keep a straight face?

Second mysterious death of a high-ranking Russian figure in recent days on Cyprus
A body believed to be that of Vladislav Baumgertner, former CEO of Russian fertilizer giant Uralkali, has been found on Cyprus.
Local media report that the body of a 56-year-old Russian man was discovered in the Avdimou area. Baumgertner had been reported missing several days earlier.
Baumgertner was one of the most influential CEOs in Russia’s resource sector in the 2000s. Uralkali is one of the world’s largest producers of potash fertilizers.
Just days earlier, a staff member of the Russian embassy in Cyprus and an active GRU officer, Alexey Panov, was found dead at his workplace in Nicosia, with Russian authorities claiming “suicide.”

The Iranian cargo ship Rona is sinking in the Caspian Sea. The vessel operates on a route used for transporting weapons from Iran to Russia. Between October 2024 and December 2025, the bulk carrier visited the ports of Astrakhan, Makhachkala, and Azov more than 20 times, departing from Iranian ports on each occasion.
