Unless you think it will actually take that long, this is a bad talking point to keep repeating and I see it a lot on here.
Russia will either be able to continue going at the pace they are going until Ukraine eventually collapses, or they tap out before then, or Ukraine taps out before then. There is no scenario where it actually takes 200 years. We had months long WW1 battles where the lines essentially didn't move until it was over. It's not really indicative of anything other than the price Russia is paying (which they have been willing to pay in every even somewhat recent conflict they've been in).

Ukraine majority agreed to a similar set or points before. It's the ones they haven't agreed to that would be the kicker.

Witkoff and Dmitriev have repackaged the same set of Kremlin demands that were rejected by Zelenskyy and Trump on two occasions previously. In fact, this set of demands was the reason the Budapest meeting was cancelled.
The strategy this time is to get Trump to qickly sign off on it, thus making it fait accompli and putting great pressure on Kyiv and the Europeans to agree to it sight unseen.
To do this, Dmitriev leaked the document to 'Axios' via a Kremlin-friendly journalist, Barak Ravid.. In a series of 'exclusive' articles, Ravid claimed that:
1.) 'the US' [not just Witkoff] "was secretly drafting a new plan to end the Ukraine war";
2.) the " 'Trump plan' [which Trump had never seen] asks Ukraine to cede additional territory for security guarantee";
3.) published "Trump's full 28-point Ukraine-Russia peace plan" [again, which Trump had never seen]; and
4.) published that the "Trump peace plan for Ukraine includes NATO-style security guarantee".
None of these articles was based on any verifyable truth. Just one conjecture after another, all framed as 'secret information'.
Shortly afterwards, a useful idiot, Caitlin Doornbos ran this:
Which of course is completely untrue. But because of the current Energy Ministry scandal in Ukraine, the Russians believed Zelenskyy and his entire government and military would be under pressure to agree to this 'plan'. Yes, they actually believed that.
This whole mess is a classic Kremlin operation, which means it is layered in purposeful confusion. So, to cut through all of this, let's consider Michael Weiss:

EXCLUSIVE: I've confirmed details of the 28-point peace plan proposed by the US w/input from Russia & Ukraine. Senior US officials say Ukraine's Rustem Umerov gave initial approval — and that Kyiv insisted on adding a provision that would give amnesty to both Russia and Ukraine.
"The plan was drawn up immediately following [Witkoff's] discussions with one of the most senior members of Zelensky administration, Umerov. Umarov agreed to the majority of this plan, and he made several modifications to it, which we included and presented it to President Zelensky," a senior US official told me.

This whole mess is a classic Kremlin operation, which means it is layered in purposeful confusion. So, to cut through all of this, let's consider Michael Weiss:
quote:
Several things can be true at the same time:
1. Witkoff and Dmitriev cooked up a Kremlin wish-list to show the Ukrainians, and Dmitriev got feisty and leaked it prematurely to make it manifest, sensing Zelensky was too weak to say "no."
2. Trump told Witkoff, "Great job, Steve, keep it up, I'm with you all the way," without knowing the full details or anticipating what a shite show would ensue or appreciating just how unworkable this thing is. (He may have even been encouraged by Kushner in this respect; Jared believing he's Kissinger after Gaza.)
3. There is now a mad dash to accelerate a "framework" or "draft" or "living document" or "blueprint" written in invisible ink into a codified peace plan before Santa comes down the chimney because everyone with two IQ points in the administration and on the Hill is trying to find out just what the frick is going on and how to stop it.
4. The Europeans are getting ready to visit "Daddy" again to talk some sense into him.
5. Official Moscow is hanging fire, waiting to see what happens now that Kirill has tossed a grenade into the works.
6. Rubio is hanging fire, waiting to see what happens now that Dim Philby has stepped on his own crank again.
7. This all ends in tears.
8. We'll do it all over again in three months.

While work with the U.S. delegation continues in Kyiv, various assumptions about the content of the consultations are appearing in the public space. I want to briefly clarify this.
During my visit to the United States, my role was technical — organizing meetings and preparing the dialogue. I provided no assessments or, even more so, approvals of any points. This is not within my authority and does not correspond to the procedure.
Yesterday, a conversation took place between the President of Ukraine and the U.S. delegation [Witkoff] authorized by President Trump. Today, this work continues in Kyiv at the technical level between the teams.
We are carefully reviewing all proposals from our partners and expect the same respectful approach to Ukraine’s position.
Media reports about alleged “approvals” or “removal of points” have nothing to do with reality. These are examples of unverified information that arose outside the context of the consultations.
We are thoroughly working through our partners’ proposals within Ukraine’s unchanging principles — sovereignty, the safety of our people, and a just peace.
He may be associated with those that are guilty of corruption - that's up to a court to decide - but seeing that the Russians are on full blast trying to bring him down tells us a lot.

I don't see JD as the front runner for 2028. He really is a lightweight politically. IMO, he was the bone thrown to Silicon Valley for campaign funding. Silicon Valley got him instead of their first choice, Desantis. Desantis was an epic failure of campaign roll out. David Sacks was not a good puppet master, being obvious about it with Desantis' foreign policy.
